What is the opportunity?

The role’s mandate is to develop, implement, and continuously evolve a comprehensive set of frameworks to enable faster decision making on next gen data use cases and empower teams across the organization to leverage accessible data to optimize processes and create value. Through strategic leadership, robust governance, and technical enablement, we ensure that data is positioned to be leveraged as a key driver of innovation, operational efficiency, and sustained competitive advantage.

What will you do?
  • Review data trends, best practices and emerging data technologies and capabilities across the industry, incorporating innovation to continuously enhance data decision while supporting evolving business objectives.
  • Establish relationships and use influence to build innovative solutions and scale consistent data decision capabilities across RBC.
  • Manage relationships with business stakeholders and build deep understanding of their data needs across the Bank and communicate new data decisions and/or strategies effectively.
  • Define, documents and socialize requirements, user profiles, integrations, implementation plans, etc. with stakeholders both from the business and process and collaborate with functional partners (e.g. T&O) to develop and deliver automation efforts and change management.
  • Create frameworks to provide guidance and expedite key enterprise data decisions to create value through data while ensuring data decisioning adheres to regulatory and compliance frameworks, risk mitigation strategies and data security across the organization.
  • Ensure that data decisioning becomes a core competency throughout the organization by providing easy access to data resources, self‑service analytics, insights while empowering teams with tools, optimized processes, and insights to unlock new business opportunities.
  • Document the best practices, decision‑making process for new and complex data processes and manage the approval decision‑trees through the creation of playbooks, roadmaps to establish clarity, standardized approach, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Champion the importance of data throughout the organization by promoting awareness and demonstrating the value of data insights in business outcomes, identify gaps in the existing landscape and provide recommendations.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
  • 10+ years’ experience with Data and Business strategy
  • Detailed knowledge of financial services and experience in using data to drive business outcomes.
  • Broad knowledge in data management, controls and reporting.
  • Strong project leadership and organizational change management skills.
  • Exceptional people influence skills, including collaboration with multiple teams to build new automation and capabilities.
  • Post‑Secondary education or equivalent
Nice to Have
  • Data consulting background
  • External perspective on emerging data trends
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Broad knowledge financial services information systems, data management applications, and “big data” tools such as Teradata, Collibra, SQL, Python, Snowflake, etc.
