Overview

Hexagon Autonomy & Positioning is looking for a Director Communications who will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and governance of internal communications across the Hexagon Autonomous Solutions Business Area. This role provides strategic oversight for business area–wide communication while also delivering tailored support to each division to ensure clarity, alignment, and consistency of messaging. The Director partners closely with executive and divisional leadership teams to plan and execute effective internal communications that enhance employee engagement, strengthen organizational understanding, and reinforce company values across all levels of the business.

The Director, Communications plays a key role in ensuring employees are well-informed, aligned, and engaged with the company’s mission and strategic direction.

Responsibilities

As our Director o f Communications, you would be responsible for:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive business area-wide internal communications strategy aligned with business area goals and priorities.
  • Ensure consistent communication standards, processes, and practices across the business area.
  • Establish communication governance, protocols, and approval workflows.
  • Ensure accessibility, tone of voice, and brand guidelines are upheld across all content.
  • Maintain business area-wide and divisional message calendars and communication roadmaps. Partner with executive leadership to support clear, timely, and effective internal communication across business area and divisions.
  • Prepare presentations, messaging, and communication materials for executive leadership. Ensuring internal creative assets, templates, and visual identity are aligned and consistently used.
  • Partner with Brand/Marketing teams where necessary.
  • Ensure internal communications reinforce the employer brand by highlighting company values, culture, and employee experiences.
  • Develop messaging frameworks and storytelling approaches that reflect the desired employee experience and support talent attraction and retention efforts.
  • Curate and promote employee success stories, milestones, and culture moments across internal channels to strengthen pride and advocacy.
  • Create and curate internal content including announcements, leadership messages, newsletters, blog articles, and event communications.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize internal communications tools (e.g., intranet, employee apps, digital signage, newsletters).
  • Lead internal communications related to organizational changes, ensuring messaging supports transparency and maintains employee confidence.
  • Support People & Culture in advancing a cohesive employer brand through employee-focused stories and messaging.
  • Manage internal crisis communication processes to ensure timely, accurate, and clear information is provided to employees during critical events.
  • Conduct analytics on communication activities to evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to communication tools, processes, and practices.
  • Lead planning and coordination of key internal events such as GEM, L&L, QBR, and Hexagon AS Live.
  • Implement communication initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and reinforce a connected and values-driven workplace culture.
  • Design and manage feedback channels such as pulse surveys, listening sessions, internal focus groups, or platform analytics.
  • Use insights to adjust strategy and enhance engagement.
  • Ensure alignment between the employer brand and the day-to-day employee experience by partnering with People & Culture, Organizational Development, and leadership teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, employee engagement, or related functions.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing enterprise-wide internal communications strategies.
  • Proven experience partnering with senior executives and supporting leadership communications.
  • Prior experience leading change communications for large or complex organizations.
  • Experience managing internal communication tools and platforms (e.g., intranet, employee mobile apps, digital signage, internal social platforms).
  • Experience supporting employer branding and employee value proposition (EVP) initiatives.
  • Experience planning and executing internal events, town halls, or employee engagement activities.
  • Experience leading or contributing to crisis communication plans and execution.
  • Prior experience developing communication governance frameworks, standards, and approval processes.
