Job summary

Masco Canada is seeking a Director, Category Management for the Heavy Commercial category, in a hybrid role at the St. Thomas, ON office.

Lead strategy, growth and profitability across North America, guiding cross-functional teams to deliver revenue and market share gains. The ideal candidate has 7+ years in category or product leadership, a Business degree with MBA preferred, and a proven ability to align marketing, sales and development initiatives with strong P&L ownership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification an asset.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in category, product, engineering or brand management, with at least 3 years in a senior or category leadership role.
  • Strong ability to drive cross-functional collaboration, influence peers and partners, and build alignment across multiple functions.
  • Demonstrated leadership that inspires engagement, collaboration, and positive energy across teams.
  • Experience in plumbing and/or commercial segment strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the multi-year strategic product category plan reflective of the technical, innovative and high-performance requirements in the commercial segment.
  • Serve as the P&L owner for the product category — accountable for leading the team in achieving revenue, margin, and profitability targets.
  • Create synergies & break down silos while leading and developing the Category Product, Quotations and Specifications teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach team on product roadmap development, portfolio optimization, and lifecycle management.
  • Guide the identification of product market trends, competitive insights, and new growth opportunities.
  • Develop and lead strategy to drive specification presence and drive pipeline management discipline.
  • Lead governance of pricing and quotations strategy, setting enterprise standards for profitability and competitive positioning
  • Enable partnership and collaboration between Category Management, Marketing, and Business Development to ensure alignment of strategy, execution, and communication across all functions.
  • Inspire cross functional collaboration, influencing senior leaders strategies to support commercial business growth
  • Leverage insights, analytics, and market data to evaluate product effectiveness and optimize investments to deliver strong ROI.
  • Build team capabilities that ensure the effective execution of new product launches

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

The Director, Category Management , Heavy Commercial is responsible for leading the strategic direction, growth, and profitability of their respective product category across all customer channels in North America.

Reporting to the Senior Director, North American Commercial Business , the Director leads a multi-disciplinary organization of Category Managers, Category Quotations and Category Specifications teams, ensuring that product category strategies translate into measurable business results — revenue growth, market share expansion and profitability, This leader drives a high level of collaboration, fostering strong alignment and joint accountability across all cross-functional teams.

The Director is also responsible for building and sustaining a positive, energizing, and engaging culture across their direct and cross functional teams creating an environment where collaboration, creativity, and shared success thrive. This role plays a key leadership function in ensuring that category strategy, works in concert with the category marketing and business development strategies to achieve market share growth, brand equity gains, and sustained profitability. The Director is accountable for delivering P&L targets, and category vitality while ensuring strong collaboration with cross-functional teams

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Category Strategic Leadership & Growth

WHAT WILL YOU BRING?

CRITICAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification an asset.
  • Experience in commercial segment, building products, or B2B industries preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in category, product, engineering or brand management, with at least 3 years in a senior or category leadership role.
  • Strong ability to drive cross-functional collaboration, influence peers and partners, and build alignment across multiple functions.
  • Demonstrated leadership that inspires engagement, collaboration, and positive energy across teams.
  • Technical aptitude to drive relevant and innovative product strategies for the commercial plumbing segment
  • Strong understanding of commercial sales cycle and specification nature of this business
  • Proven ability to influence executive decision-making, manage competing priorities, and lead cross-functional business transformation initiatives.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in managing category P&L, pricing strategies, and performance metrics.
  • Experience in plumbing and/or commercial segment strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading and developing teams of category, technical and product professionals.
  • Deep understanding of market research, trend analysis, and product development processes.
  • Ability to translate customer insights and analytics into actionable product strategies.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire teams and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of ownership and accountability.

Hiring Range: $136,500.00 - $186,450.00 CAD

The salary range shown reflects the expected annual base salary for this open position, plus other wage amounts such as annual bonus, profit sharing, and commissions.
