What is the opportunity?

Client, Banking, Data Analytics, and Digital Technology (CBDDT) is seeking a Director to lead the Project Management Office, champion communications & connectivity, and develop and execute the CBDDT Strategy.

Quantitative & Technology Services (QTS) delivers innovative solutions for RBC Capital Markets through cross‑asset collaboration, providing clients with cutting‑edge technical platforms that enhance business performance and strengthen competitive position.

The CBDDT Business and Portfolio Management team is accountable for driving QTS strategy and execution through portfolio budget management, third‑party vendor oversight, and effective resource utilization, aligning delivery with our CBDDT goals, workforce strategy, and PMO governance and compliance standards while delivering continuous improvement. It also acts as the central team to spearhead communications, provide connectivity, and improve culture.

The ideal candidate will bring strategic thinking, project delivery expertise, and exceptional communication and collaboration skills to advance CBDDT's transformation and ensure stakeholder alignment with Capital Markets' strategic objectives.

What will you do?
CBDDT Project Management Office

Lead governance, strategic direction, and evolution of the CBDDT Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure appropriate risk control and delivery of best practices that provide value while maintaining compliance with enterprise policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsible for all CBDDT Business Case (Project Approval Request) creation, execution, and approvals, including reporting on the pipeline and strategic orchestration with partners.

CBDDT Communications, Connectivity, and Culture
  • Establish and maintain clear communication channels across all CBDDT teams, ensuring alignment on strategic objectives and operational priorities through regular town halls, newsletters, and leadership updates; execute large‑scale events.
  • Chair and drive agendas for CBDDT OC, senior leadership offsites to drive strategic direction and track progress on strategic initiatives and operational activities.
  • Build and strengthen connectivity internally within CBBDT, QTS, and T&O and between technical teams and business units, ensuring technology initiatives are aligned with broader company goals and stakeholder needs are understood and addressed.
CBDDT Strategy via Operating Office
  • Maximize the value delivered through annual technology investments by optimizing workforce utilization across global locations and ITAS contracts to drive annualized efficiencies.
  • Effectively and strategically grow and scale CBDDT initiatives across RBC through governance, integration, content development, knowledge sharing, training, coaching, and advisory.
  • Challenge the status quo; look beyond current practices, research and define future approaches, specifically leveraging GenAI.
Must Have
  • 10+ years of experience in the delivery and execution of large‑scale and complex initiatives; ideally running a Project Management Office driving governance and controls.
  • 10+ years of experience developing and applying leading practices in relationship management, transformation, and project/program/portfolio management.
  • 5+ years of experience in communications to varied audiences.
  • Strong influencing skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders across the organization.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics, with a strong understanding of the company's culture, values, and priorities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the technology delivery landscape, including system development lifecycle(s), third‑party technology management, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and circumstances.
Nice to have
  • Organization design in a leadership or organizational development role within a business or consulting environment.
  • Project management, change management training and/or certification.
  • Capital Markets domain knowledge/experience.
  • Undergraduate degree.
