Job Summary

The Director of Business Development is responsible for generating new business opportunities. This involves creating compelling and strategic proposals, presentations, and client entry strategies. This is an independent contributor role.

If you join us as our Director of Business Development, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead Generation/Prospecting: Conducting market research to source new business opportunities.
  • Communication: Writing letters, emails, proposals, preparing presentations, and communicating strategy between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Relationship Management: Building long-term account value through relationships with multiple levels within client organizations, including C-level contacts. Managing internal relationships to ensure solutions meet clients’ key decision criteria.
  • Strategic Planning: Developing strategies for client contact, relationship management, bidding, and winning. Leading long-term strategic planning.
  • Database Management: Creating and maintaining accurate records of all client contacts and opportunity details.
  • Pipeline Management: Building a healthy pipeline of opportunities and accurately forecasting future business wins.
  • Time Management: Multi-tasking effectively, creating a sense of urgency, and working within deadlines.
  • Event Management: Planning and supporting client events.
  • Report Completion: Preparing reports related to year-to-date results, strategic plans, and annual budgets.
  • Negotiations: Negotiating successful contract execution with clients, developing proposals, delivering presentations, and gaining consensus.
  • Project Management: Leading or liaising with project teams and subject matter experts.

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in an active hunter sales role with no limits on commissions.
  • High resilience and an entrepreneurial approach.
  • Proven experience delivering sales success results.
  • Willingness to adopt our proven sales model, leveraging your sales skills while learning a new go-to-market approach.
  • Hands-on sales professional, focused on the sales process, relationship building internally and externally.
  • Territory management experience, ideally in B2B, Events, or Hospitality Services.
  • High personal accountability, integrity, and assertiveness to manage internal sales and deliver outcomes.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Effective time-management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CRM applications.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time.
