Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Creative Services, the Digital Marketing Manager actively contributes to and helps to shape and execute an integrated marketing strategy across the College. The Digital Marketing Manager works closely with the Director to develop, implement, track and update the annual brand advertising campaign, including managing the annual digital advertising budget, and spearhead data analysis that will inform future campaign strategies.

The Digital Marketing Manager manages a team of Social and Digital Media Specialists and Web Developers, and works in tandem with other marketing teams and stakeholders across the college to ensure seamless, integrated marketing and communications in support of the College’s Business Plan Goals. The Digital Marketing Manager will identify and leverage relevant data and metrics to use in the content planning and measurement of social media and the College web properties, as well as paid and unpaid advertising strategies to effectively target and reach both direct and non-direct students.

Operating in a highly competitive and changing environment, the Digital Marketing Manager provides leadership and technical direction, and support with crisis or emergency responses and digital communications through the College’s social media channels and websites. On occasion, this responsibility may extend to evening or weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Works closely with the Director, Marketing and Creative Services and other Senior Leaders / Managers in the development of the department’s marketing strategies
  • Works with Campus Managers, academic and service areas to determine college-wide goals and objectives in student / client recruitment and promotion.
  • Sets goals for direct reports to ensure that projects are delivered on brand and on time and to develop metrics and create post-campaign summaries to be shared with staff and stakeholders
  • Leads and works with staff in the schools and Marketing team in the development, approval and execution of new program digital marketing plans and storytelling efforts
  • Establishes, reviews and approves annual digital marketing plans and digital media budgets.
  • Works with relevant partners to develop the strategy and oversee the design, production and execution of annual digital marketing campaigns for student recruitment purposes including advertising and recruitment events (including, but not limited to, Community Nights, Ontario College Information Fair and Spring / Fall Open Houses)
  • Ensures consistent brand messaging in internal and external digital communications to all stakeholders.
  • Works closely with and supports central communications in coordinating social media and website updates, including during crises.
  • Oversees a number of online paid and unpaid marketing initiatives, including but not limited to, search engine marketing, pay-per-click advertising campaigns, viral campaigns, and social networking opportunities in support of the College’s enrolment, business development and other recruitment objectives.
  • Directs the web team on the implementation of website design and function, ensuring the site is innovative, informative and easily navigable and responsive, and generating best possible search engine optimization functionality.
  • Works with, and partners with other departments, particularly IT, to ensure that the website is delivering and meeting department and college objectives.
  • Ensures the website is resonating with audiences by deploying regular research instruments to gauge success and engagement.
  • Provides leadership, direction, expertise and motivation to website and social / digital team
  • Motivates and inspires the team through supportive and effective management by actively listening and providing consistent guidance driven by experience and knowledge of the portfolio and the College environment.
  • Monitors the budget and ensures expenditures are within approved limits and consistent with department’s mandate, ensuring optimal use of resources (human and financial).
  • Oversees the production of various College videos, including but not limited to, program promotion videos, recruitment videos, student service and life videos, event promotion videos, and brand promotion videos
Qualifications / Experience
  • Three (3) year diploma / degree in Marketing, Social / Digital Media, Advertising, Communications, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Five (5) years progressive experience in digital marketing, with demonstrated experience supervising / leading a team.
  • In-depth understanding of and experience in marketing, advertising, website and social / digital media and various communication and paid advertising tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of marketing principles and segmentation analysis.
  • Proven financial management and budget forecast skills.
  • Experience with conducting market research projects and analyzing data.
  • Demonstrated success in building market share and proven marketing and advertising plans.
  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms.
  • General understanding of HTML and web editing software.
  • Excellent client / customer service skills, focused on the desire to work cooperatively with team members and clients.
