As an Art Director (Digital Designer Front-End), you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the look and feel of our clients’ digital and print presence. You’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining dynamic customer e-stores and marketing collateral — including email communications, flyers, and catalogs. Your creative vision and strategic approach will ensure every project delivers on brand objectives and drives engagement.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Designs and builds customer e-stores for enterprise-level accounts ($50K - $5M+ annually delivered per e-store) based on web best practices and functionality of the SPP e-store structure utilizing HTML, Javascript, CSS and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Designs websites based on Conversion Rate Optimization best practices to increase close rate and e-store revenue.

  • Builds the front-end of site to client specifications and brand standards.

  • Actively researches web best practices and collaborates with US Web Development team to implement for customer e-stores.

  • Understands and actively utilizes newly developed and enhanced functionality from the SPP e-store platform.

  • Executes e-store updates including banner changes, aesthetic changes and image uploads.

  • Trains Production Coordinators on new e-store functionality as required.

  • Designs and builds DEMs / email marketing campaigns as per marketing plans, while using current web standards and practices for each browser.

  • Manages e-store lists for assigned accounts and ensures data compliance when distributing email campaigns.

  • Develops strategic and creative designs to support client marketing, web and sale channel initiatives that help drive profitable sales for the company.

  • Supports Account Services team with database management, ensuring departments and products are showing correctly on the e-store executions. Organizes and uploads information and products to e-stores.

  • Works with the Account Services team to ensure timelines are met for the build, testing and delivery of new program sites.

  • Responsible for testing of sites and resolution of any issues to ensure optimal customer experience.

  • Presents creative (web/print layout) recommendations to clients.

  • Build/design customer flyers, web banners, eblasts and other communications.

  • Develops insightful strategies on larger scale initiatives that encourages credibility, engages target audiences, and drives sales for Staples Promotional Products.

  • Provides high quality creative solutions in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing timelines and priorities.

  • Develops product mock-ups and logo drops based on Account team direction and supplier decoration requirements.

  • Responsible for MediaBank logo & image management — finding opportunities to repurpose and save cost.

  • Manage photography process for images for e-stores.

What you bring to the table:
  • Extensive expertise utilizing Adobe Creative Suite in the Mac environment specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe XD, Acrobat, Dreamweaver.

  • Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Photography for product images or website banner layouts a PLUS

  • Strong pre-press knowledge. Familiar with various printing and design options to keep printing costs to a minimum.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong design, layout and aesthetic skills.

  • Strong project and time management skills are critical.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, positively and concisely.

  • Ability to work as an individual contributor or as an integral part of a team.

  • Driven self-starter who takes initiative, proactively makes recommendations and takes accountability and ownership of all relevant projects.

  • Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Microsoft Office

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and timelines

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • 3+ years Relevant web experience

  • 3+ years Relevant design experience

  • 2+ years of experience in content editing, retouching, and visual refinement

  • Extensive proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, Acrobat, Dreamweaver) in a Mac environment

What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with product photography for web and print

  • Pre-press expertise and familiarity with cost-effective printing options

  • Bilingual in English and French – written and verbal proficiency.

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation.
