ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Manager of Communications, the Digital Communications & Design Coordinator is acreative powerhouseresponsible for bringing BCA’s ideas and stories to life through exceptional design and multimedia production.
This role blends professionalgraphic design, audio/video editing, and digital storytelling— helping transform complex policy and economic ideas into visually compelling, accessible, and engaging content across platforms.
Working closely with the Communications and External Relations team, this position ensures BCA’s brand and message stand out with clarity, creativity, and polish.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Graphic Design & Visual Storytelling
Bring complex ideas to life through exceptional design and layout.
- Design and lay out BCA’s policy reports, annual reports, presentations, and all other branded materials.
- Create visually striking assets for digital and print campaigns, maintaining consistent brand standards and exceptional attention to detail.
- Develop creative concepts and templates that elevate BCA’s visual identity and make data and insights accessible and engaging.
- Use professional design software (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects) and modern tools (Canva, etc.) to deliver high-quality outputs.
Multimedia & Audio-Visual Production
Produce high-quality video and audio content that amplifies BCA’s message.
- Plan, film, and edit short-form and long-form video content for web, social, and event use—interviews, explainers, motion graphics, and promotional videos.
- Record and edit audio content (such as podcasts, etc.) to a professional standard.
- Manage lighting, audio, and production setups for in-office and remote shoots.
- Ensure all multimedia assets align with BCA’s brand, tone, and standards.
Digital Content & Campaign Support
Create engaging content for digital platforms that connects with Alberta’s business community.
- Develop creative content for social media, websites, and digital campaigns that bring BCA’s messages to life through visuals, motion, and design.
- Collaborate with Communications Coordinator to execute digital storytelling campaigns that drive engagement and impact.
- Design thumbnails, GIFs, and animations optimized for optimized for newsletters, social media, and web distribution.
- Understand BCA’s different audience segments tailor to reach them effectively.
Website Management
Keep BCA’s digital presence fresh, functional, and visually strong.
- Manage updates and enhancements to the BCA website (WordPress), emphasizing user-friendly design and strong visual presentation.
- Optimize the online experience for audiences, ensuring BCA’s research and policy work is easy to access, visually appealing, and mobile responsive.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Certificate, diploma, or bachelor’s degree in graphic design, information design, digital media, communications, or a related creative field.
- 1+ years of professional experience in graphic design, video editing, and multimedia production.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Audition), Canva, and equivalent professional tools.
- Experience in video production, including filming, editing, lighting, and motion graphics.
- Proven ability in audio recording and editing, including podcasts or interviews.
- Excellent typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.
- Strong organizational ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Assets:
- Experience with website management tools (WordPress, Divi, etc.) and familiarity with HTML/CSS or web design principles.
- Strong storytelling instincts and the ability to translate complex ideas into engaging visual and multimedia narratives.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital content trends.
- Knowledge of government policy, business, and economics is an asset.
