Job description

You will work to fulfill Jesus’ command to make disciples and the Village Church Planting vision of establishing a church in every African village by 2050. Your role involves digitally extending the Word of God and other resources grounded in the Bible to African villages and villagers who might not otherwise have access to Bible-based ministry tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Pray diligently for the fulfillment of the VCP 2050 vision.
2. Develop an understanding of discipleship opportunities and challenges in African villages.
3. Provide digital tools to facilitate disciple multiplication through the VCP ministry.
4. Collaborate with VCP leaders to identify and curate digital Bible resources for Android devices and feature phones, including tools like the Jesus Film, Global Recordings Bible Stories, Bible.is, Faith Comes by Hearing, 5 Fish, and Story Runners.
5. Organize curated digital Bible resources by country and language on shared platforms such as Google Drive.
6. Promote and simplify access and download of digital Bible resources for users.
7. Research, deploy, and promote digital delivery systems that function with minimal or no internet, empowering church members to distribute resources via smartphones and feature phones.
8. Train VCP Coordinators and Digital Bible specialists using a Model, Assist, Watch, and Leave approach.
9. Maintain communication with digital Bible specialists to support, learn from, and coach them.
10. Develop digital Bible solutions adapted to the theological, cultural, and technological contexts for reaching Muslims with the Good News.
11. Coordinate with OMS Publishing and VCP Supervisors to align distribution of digital Bible resources with new VCP materials.
12. Supervise and collaborate with a Digital Bible Resource Assistant, delegating responsibilities as appropriate.
13. Perform other duties as delegated by the supervisor.

Skills and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in missions, Bible, adult education, or related fields is preferred.
• Demonstrated skill with Bible apps and digital tools.
• Ability to quickly learn Android and feature phone settings, file management, and operations.
• Proficiency with cloud storage and retrieval systems.
• Effective communication skills in cross-cultural situations, including working with digital and human translators.
• Comfortable helping non-digital natives learn to use digital tools for the Great Commission.
• Ability to work both behind the scenes and in front of groups for training and vision casting.
