The salary range for this position is CAD $43.23/Hr. - CAD $53.96/Hr.

Summary

Providence Health Care (PHC) is now accepting applications for Dietitians to join our interdisciplinary care teams. In this role, you’ll apply evidence-based clinical nutrition expertise at our Community Dialysis Units, working closely with patients, families, and care teams to support recovery, wellness, and quality of life for those living with chronic kidney disease. This is an opportunity to practice person-centred, collaborative care while contributing to education, quality improvement, and research in a leading health care environment.

This is a 0.6 FTE position, working three days per week. The successful candidate will provide in-person coverage two days per week at the North Shore Dialysis Unit and one day per week at the East Vancouver Dialysis Unit.

What responsibilities will include:

• Comprehensive Nutrition Assessment & Care Planning: Assess patients’ nutritional status and risk, and design, implement, evaluate, and document individualized nutrition care plans in accordance with professional standards. You’ll collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure care plans are effectively implemented and adapted as clinical needs evolve.
• Patient, Family & Team Collaboration: Work as an active member of interdisciplinary teams by participating in rounds and care conferences, contributing to discharge planning, and counseling patients and families on nutrition-related issues such as diet modification and lifestyle changes.
• Education, Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Provide nutrition education to patients, families, staff, students, and dietetic interns through one‑on‑one counseling, in‑services, and presentations. You’ll support learner development while staying current with emerging best practices in renal nutrition through ongoing professional education and literature review.
• Quality Improvement, Research & Professional Practice: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by helping develop and evaluate clinical guidelines, tools, and educational materials. You’ll support research activities within departmental resources and assist with workload reporting, documentation, and the maintenance of nutrition‑related equipment and supplies.

What You Bring

Education, Training and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics from a recognized University.
• Dietetic internship from a Dietitians of Canada accredited program.
• Two (2) years' recent experience working with patients/residents in a medical/acute care setting with renal experience.
• Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).

• Knowledge of advanced clinical skills in the renal area and demonstrated ability to apply advanced skills to practice.

Your day to day

• Evaluates nutritional status/risk of patients/residents including complex cases, and develops/prescribes, implements, evaluates (initial and ongoing), and documents an appropriate nutritional care plan; liaises with food service staff regarding patient food services related concerns in the renal area.
• Instructs and/or counsels patients/residents and family members in nutritional issues such as diet modifications and lifestyle changes.
• Determines, refers and/or liaises with community based nutritional resources as required to ensure that patient/resident care issues are addressed.
• Contributes to an inter-disciplinary approach to patient/resident care and program related issues by attending ward rounds and team conferences to exchange information related to patient/residents care and discharge planning.
• Completes required patient/resident documentation, forms and reports and documents workload statistics.
• Acts as a resource person in the renal area for other dietitians and health care professionals, by providing support for handling complex cases within PHC, the Provincial Referral Centre and other outreach programs.
• Participates in quality improvement activities by initiating, planning, developing, and evaluating quality improvement activities/nutrition interventions/programs including audit tools, written procedures, standards and clinical guidelines for Clinical Nutrition Services and relevant clinical programs.
• Identifies nutrition related patient educational needs for the renal area; initiates, prepares and presents educational programs and materials in collaboration with departmental and other team members.
• Assists the Professional Practice Leader with the practicum for students and dietetic interns by identifying learning objectives and enabling activities, and providing clinical education and supervision in the renal area.
