Job summary

Aramark Canada is seeking a Dietary Worker for patient meal service at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital. You will assemble trays, serve meals and nourishments, and maintain a clean, sanitary environment in the hospital kitchen and dining areas.

The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to food safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare setting with potential for full-time hours through the union contract.

Qualifications

• 1+ years Kitchen Help, Food Service, or Prep Cook experience.
• Knowledge of and commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently, supervised and unsupervised.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepares or serves beverages, snacks, and meals for patients/residents/customers, including special dietary items and catering.
• Cleans and peels vegetables.
• Cleans, sanitizes, and stocks kitchenettes and food service areas.
• Assembles meal trays for residents/patients at specific food stations.
• Distributes and collects food trays to and from floors.
• Cleans, replenishes work areas and restocks materials.
• Scrapes, unloads, and cleans meal trays.
• May operate a cash register or set up catering for events.

As a Dietary Worker on our team of service stars, you'll take on the important task of assembling trays, serving food and nourishments, cleaning up after meal service all while maintaining a clean, sanitary and safe environment for the patients and their families at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepares or serves beverages, snacks, and meals for patients/residents/customers including, but not limited to, preparing ingredients, special dietary food items, main menu courses, and catering to functions or groups within the organization
• Cleans and peels vegetables
• Cleans, sanitizes, and stocks kitchenettes, specific food stations, and/or other food service areas
• Assembles meal trays for residents/patients by working at specific food stations
• Distributes and collects food trays to and from floors
• Cleans, replenishes work area(s)/restock materials (i.e. clean dishes, equipment, utensils, trays, trolleys, tables, chairs, counters, and refrigerators)
• Scrapes, unloads, and cleans meal trays
• Rolls silverware
• May provide snacks after hours
• May operate a cash register
• May set up catering for specific areas and assist in preparing food items for special events
• May prepare diet change reports based on patient/resident admissions and discharges
• May stock groceries on shelves and refrigerators, inspect goods, and rotate stock
• May perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

• 1+ years Kitchen Help, Food Service, or Prep Cook experience
• Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification is an asset
• Knowledge of and commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently supervised and unsupervised
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations

Successful candidates must complete and pass a Code of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check to be hired.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

This is a part-time, call-in position with opportunity to earn full time hours. This is a union position with United Steel Workers. This position comes with complimentary uniforms and safety shoes; paid sick time; paid vacation time in accorance with the Collective Agreement. Extended health benefits once full-time.
