Job summary

Kiwanis Nursing Home is looking for Dietary Attendants!

Kiwanis Nursing Home is a compassionate, resident-centered nursing home dedicated to providing the highest quality of care in a supportive, home-like environment. By joining us, you will be joining approximately 150 other caring and amazing staff members in our 100-bed home in Sussex.

We currently have vacancies for Dietary Attendants (no guaranteed hours).

Our Dietary Attendants are responsible for assisting with preparation and distribution of food and beverages for our residents. We are seeking highly motivated individuals who thrive working under pressure, enjoy working in a fast-paced role, and are looking to make a positive impact in our home.

Some of what you'll be doing:
  • Preparing breakfast, lunch, supper, beverages, and snacks;
  • Assembling/disassembling food carts and trays;
  • Portioning and serving meals to residents;
  • Monitoring and documenting food and refrigeration temperatures;
  • Cleaning duties, such as washing pots and pans, loading/unloading dishwasher, cleaning/sanitizing the kitchen and dining room areas, etc.;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead Cook and/or Dietitian.
What we're asking for:
  • Previous food service experience and/or Food Safety certification a strong asset;
  • High school graduation or equivalent;
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Self-motivated and able to complete tasks quickly;
  • Physically capable of performing assigned duties (frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, etc.)
  • Flexibility to work all types of shifts (early mornings, days, evenings) and on a call-in basis;
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete a medical check, vulnerable sector check, and Department of Social Development background check as a condition of employment.
