Job summary

Extendicare Hamilton is hiring a part-time Food Service Worker to assist with plating and serving meals and to help maintain clean serving areas and equipment. You must follow established policies and procedures and contribute to a safe, high-quality dining environment for residents.

Ideal candidates will have a Food Handler's Certificate, willingness to complete a Food Service Worker program under the Ontario LTC Act, and prior dietary experience in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

  • Completion/enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
  • Current Food Handler's Certificate.
  • LTC home experience preferred (0–1 year).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Reading/writing English and following simple instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Maintain proper serving temperatures and observe time limits.
  • Assist Cooks with prepping simple foods and garnishes.
  • Clear plates, load dishwasher, and clean utensils and pots.
  • Stock unit kitchenettes and assemble nourishment carts.
  • Attend meetings and in-service education programs.
  • Follow safety, infection control and QA policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
