Qualifications

The Dietary Aide supports meal preparation, service, and clean-up for clients, families, and staff in assigned facilities. This role is key to maintaining a safe, sanitary, and efficient food service environment by following safe food handling practices and promoting teamwork within the department. The Dietary Aide contributes to resident wellbeing by assisting in the timely delivery of nutritious meals while upholding workplace safety standards.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education / Experience :

  • Must possess a minimum of two years food service experience relative to an institutional kitchen
  • Current Safe Food Handling Certificate (must be kept up to date)
  • Experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in a health care facility
  • Previous experience with inventory and cost control in a food service operation

Skills / Abilities :

  • Must understand the basics of food preparation, handling and storage
  • Understanding of therapeutic diets and menus
  • Position involves physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving hot, heavy items (up to 15 kg) and standing for prolonged periods
  • Must have an understanding of Occupational Health and Safety, HACCP
  • Must be able to work comfortably in a team environment
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to adequately read and write English
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Assets :

  • Cafeteria and catering experience would be an asset

Conditions of Employment :

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
