Job summary

The Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority is seeking a Dietary Aide for Gimli Health Centre. This casual relief role involves day, evening, and weekend shifts, supporting patient, resident, staff, and visitor meals.

The position emphasizes safety, sanitation, and courteous service under the direction of the Manager and Cook. Required is a valid Food Handlers Certificate (within six months if not already held) and knowledge of therapeutic diets.

Qualifications

• Valid Food Handlers Certificate required or to be obtained within six months of employment.
• Knowledge in therapeutic diets and texture modification.
• Experience in health care or commercial food service establishment.
• Ability to operate required equipment.
• Must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food to patients, residents, staff, volunteers, Meals on Wheels and visitors.
• Comply with policies, procedures and health regulations while maintaining safety and sanitation.

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Manager, Support Services and Cook, the Dietary Aide performs the assigned duties related to the preparation and service of food to patients/ residents, staff, volunteers, Meals on Wheels, Supportive Housing, Adult Day, visitors, and catering and complies with standards, Policy and Procedures and Health regulations. Duties are performed while maintaining high standards of safety and sanitation. Courteous and effective customer service is a critical component of this position. The position of Dietary Aide functions in a manner consistent with, and supports the Mission, Vision and Values of the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority.

Qualifications

• Valid Food Handlers Certificate required. (Must be obtained within six months of employment). Re-certification must be current and valid.


• Knowledge in the areas of therapeutic diets and texture modification.


• Experience in a health care or commercial food service establishment.


• Ability to operate required equipment.


• Must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.


• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.


• Ability to perform mental and physical aspects of the position.


• Satisfactory employment record.
