Job summary

Tubby’s Truck and Trailer in Dorchester, ON is seeking a Diesel Service Technician - Apprentice to join our team. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing diesel fleets, with emphasis on diagnostics and safe operation.

You will work a straight afternoon shift from 3:30 pm to 11:00 pm in a fast-paced shop environment. We offer an hourly wage of $25.00–$32.00 based on experience, with benefits and career growth opportunities within a Canadian-owned automotive service provider.

Qualifications

  • Diesel service apprenticeship certificate (310T or 310J) or actively enrolled in year 3–4.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate drivability diagnostics.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with Service Advisors to obtain work orders and customer service requirements.
  • Inspect motor in operation and test automotive systems using diagnostic devices to locate faults.
  • Repair or replace parts of diesel systems including fuel, brakes, steering, engine, exhaust, cooling, and electrical systems.
  • Evaluate and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changes and tune-ups.
  • Advise customers and/or Service Advisor on work performed and future repair needs.
  • Inspect mechanical units (engines, transmissions, axles, brake systems) for faults.
  • Diagnose faults and decide whether to repair or replace units.
  • Test and adjust units to proper specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Interact with Service Advisors to obtain work orders and customer service specific requirements.
  • Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate fault.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of diesel systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment.
  • Evaluate and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specification.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups.
  • Advise customers and/or Service Advisor on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements.
  • Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles, and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor or determine whether to repair or replace unit.
  • Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools.
  • Test and adjust units to specifications to proper performance.
Qualifications
  • Diesel Service Technician Apprenticeship Certificate in accordance with the Ministry of Colleges, Training and Universities, 310T or willing to accept 310J Simply - Currently enrolled in year 3rd or 4th year of schooling
  • Consistently able to work independently
  • Intermediate drivability diagnostics
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean abstract
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Problem Solving Skills to work independently and with a team
