Job summary

Northern Health seeks a registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join the Mobile Ultrasound team in Burns Lake. This role performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and works with radiologists and physicians to deliver high-quality patient care.

Shift hours are 08:00 to 16:00 or 08:00 to 18:30 on a rotating schedule, with opportunities to teach and apply evidence-based practice in a dynamic community setting within Northern British Columbia.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a recognized/accredited Program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasonography).
  • Current certification with Sonography Canada and/or ARDMS as required for the assigned practice area (such as, generalist, cardiac, and/or vascular).
  • Active membership in good standing with Sonography Canada and/or ARDMS.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and related duties in collaboration with radiologists/cardiologists and other health care professionals.
  • Works under supervision of Manager or designate and adheres to NH standards of professional practice.
  • Engages in teaching students, colleagues, and medical staff as needed.

Job description

Position Summary

Are you a registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Medical Imaging department.


In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and in accordance with the standards of professional practice and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures/examinations and related duties working in collaboration with radiologists/cardiologists, physicians, and other health care professionals.


This is for the Mobile ultrasound team

Shift Rotation/Hours of work:

08:00 to 16:00, 08:00 to 18:30 (rotating)


Qualfications


  • Graduate of a recognized/accredited Program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasonography).

  • Current certification with Sonography Canada and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) as required for the assigned practice area (such as, generalist, cardiac, and/or vascular).

  • Active membership in good standing with Sonography Canada and/or ARDMS.

  • Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team using, oral, written and computer communication means. Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve conflict.

  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively. Applies the problem-solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision-making skills using a systems approach.

  • Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives and establish priorities. Manages time and resources, implements activities to promote cooperation among the interdisciplinary team, supervises responsibilities of others, and collaborates across disciplines.

  • Leadership: Promotes staff morale, engagement, and risk-taking. Demonstrates creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self and others.

  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.

  • Equipment: Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools. Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.

  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
