Job summary

Shared Health is seeking a Health Care Aide to support diagnostic imaging services at the Selkirk & District General Hospital. The role requires patient transfer, positioning, and daily tasks performed in a community hospital setting.

The candidate must hold a Health Care Aide certificate, maintain BCLS certification, and pass criminal record and registry checks. This is a casual, in-person position with 7.75 hours per day.

Qualifications

  • Health Care Aide certificate (certified) from a recognized educational institution is required.
  • Must have and maintain current BCLS certification.
  • Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check are conditions of employment.

  • Assist diagnostic imaging staff with patient transfer and positioning.
  • Provide compassionate patient care in a community hospital setting.
  • Adhere to safety and safe transfer techniques when moving patients.

Job description

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview
Experience
  • Must have a minimum of 1-2 years recent relevant experience, preferably in a Diagnostic Imaging environment.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Health Care Aide certificate (certified) from a recognized educational institution is required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Must have and maintain current BCLS certification.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Ability to work co-operatively and courteously with patients and hospital personnel.
  • Flexibility and independence in planning work and the ability to make priority decisions in carrying out daily activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, oral and written.
Physical Requirements
  • General conditions normally found in a Diagnostic Imaging Service in a community hospital.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position.
  • Must be able to withstand extensive amounts of standing, walking, bending and lifting and be able to lift and transfer patients in a safe manner.
  • Will be required to transfer patients to and from wheelchairs, Geri chairs, stretchers, diagnostic imaging tables and patient beds utilizing safe transfer techniques.
  • May be required to work flexible hours and/or overtime as required to meet the needs of the service.

Daily Hours Worked: 7.75

Annual Base Hours: 2015

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
