Job summary

EM Dynamics, a proudly Canadian owned and operated manufacturing solution facility, seeks a detail-oriented DFM & Estimating Engineer. You will analyze customer models and BOMs to identify cost drivers, flag manufacturability issues, and propose improvements before quoting.

Qualifications

3–5+ years in manufacturing engineering or technical quoting.
Strong CAD and GD&T skills with SolidWorks.
Knowledge of cost margins, labor rates, machine hour rates, and outside processing costs.
Experience evaluating 3D models, BOMs, and drawings for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

Evaluate customer 3D models (STEP/IGES/SolidWorks) and 2D drawings (GD&T) across CNC, sheet metal, and weld/mechanical assemblies.
Flag non-manufacturable features and tight tolerances outside standards.
Determine optimal manufacturing methods and establish detailed routings including setup/run times and tooling.
Draft DFM feedback reports proposing design adjustments to reduce costs and lead times.
Review complex BOMs with suppliers to estimate outside services and hardware costs.
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers and Shop Floor Leads to compare actual cycle times to quotes.
