Job summary

A leading Canadian environmental solutions company is seeking a Senior Associate, Engineering to support the delivery and maintenance of water treatment projects. The role involves a variety of technical responsibilities, including operating fluid-handling equipment and performing site inspections. Candidates should have 2+ years of experience in water separation and be effective communicators. This position offers full-time employment and requires travel across Canada.

Qualifications

Senior Associate, Engineering at ML6 Search + Talent Advisory

The Opportunity:

Our client is a rapidly growing Canadian company dedicated to the development of easy-to-use, low-energy and affordable solutions for solids management and nutrient removal for their clients in water and waste management. They have developed a range of their own technologies to serve these markets.

As part of this growth, we are supporting them in the hiring of Water Treatment Technicians to help deliver and maintain projects on client sites. Successful candidates will have a high degree of autonomy and trust placed in them in this exciting growth phase for our client. This role will involve overnight travel to client sites throughout Canada.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Providing support to clients operating dewatering, flocculation and fluid-handling equipment.
  • Maintaining and operating both sludge and water pumps as well as operating metering systems.
  • Running both Dry and Emulsion polymer systems.
  • Laying out hose, pipes, liners, and Geotube® units.
  • Performing the setup of equipment, tools, and materials for various applications.
  • Communicating project status and work conditions to the Service Supervisor and/or Project Manager.
  • Performing installation of specialized water/wastewater systems as required.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • Ideally two (2) years’ experience in Solids/Water separation.
  • Environmental Technologist degree (or diploma) would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with fluid handling equipment considered an asset.
  • Experience on industrial sites considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with health and safety requirements considered an asset.
  • Supervisory experience would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of operating/maintaining mechanical equipment considered an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively – both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform site inspections for the purposes of estimating, managing, and QA/QC.
  • Skill in the use of computers – MS Office and estimating software/job costing systems.
  • Able and willing to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Have knowledge of pipe types and fittings.
  • Be able to clearly communicate with crew and management.
  • Self starter and passion for the environmental industry.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate company vehicles.
