Job summary

GFT Technologies is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong Java and Python expertise to join a large-scale modernization initiative in the financial services sector. The successful candidate will drive deployment automation, infrastructure standardization, and scalability across platforms, data pipelines and cloud environments.

You will work with Kubernetes/OpenShift, Kafka and Flink, design end-to-end deployment processes, and help reduce technical debt while promoting repeatable,

Qualifications

• Strong experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or a similar role.
• Strong programming and scripting skills with Java and Python.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Experience with Kafka and Apache Flink.
• Strong knowledge of Ansible and infrastructure automation.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or GCP.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and deployment automation.
• Experience working with large-scale distributed systems or data platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and improve automated end-to-end deployment processes for platforms and data pipelines.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure components supporting distributed data platforms.
• Automate infrastructure and application deployments using Ansible and related DevOps technologies.
• Support both batch and real-time data pipeline deployments.
• Work with technologies including Kubernetes, OpenShift, Kafka, Flink, Java, and Python.
• Improve existing platforms by reducing technical debt, consolidating code, and standardizing implementations.
• Contribute to cloud-based environments across AWS and GCP.

• Collaborate with engineering and platform teams across North America and, occasionally, Europe.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong Java and Python expertise to join a large-scale technology modernization initiative within the financial services industry.

The successful candidate will play a key role in modernizing platforms and data pipelines, with a strong focus on deployment automation, infrastructure standardization, scalability, and technical debt reduction.

This position requires hands-on experience with DevOps practices, containerized environments, cloud technologies, and modern data platforms.
