Job summary

TitanFile Inc. is hiring a DevOps Engineer in Toronto to build and operate modern infrastructure. You will automate infrastructure with Terraform across AWS, extend CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, and strengthen observability with Prometheus and Grafana.

The role blends development and operations with a security-forward mindset. You will collaborate with a small, fast-moving team, focus on reliability, availability, and recovery, and work in a hybrid Toronto office environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4 to 7 years of full-time experience in DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Must be able and willing to lawfully work out of our Toronto, Ontario office on a hybrid schedule.
• Strong Linux fundamentals, troubleshooting, performance, and system administration.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain infrastructure as code in Terraform across our AWS environment, with some Azure.
• Operate and improve our compute footprint on ECS and EC2, including deployments, scaling, and cost efficiency.
• Own and extend our GitLab CI pipelines to improve build reliability, test automation, and release safety.
• Strengthen monitoring, alerting, and observability using AWS-native tooling alongside Prometheus and Grafana.
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation, lead incident response, and drive post-incident improvements.
• Manage backups and disaster recovery, and test restores.
• Harden Linux systems, networking, and access controls, and keep patching and configuration current across the fleet.
• Support our security team with infrastructure work tied to FedRAMP, SOC 2, and ISO 27001, including control implementation and evidence automation.
• Automate repetitive operational work, and document what you build so the whole team can run it.
• Use AI tooling to work faster across infrastructure code, scripting, and incident analysis, while maintaining quality standards.

This person will report to our Lead Architect and Infrastructure Manager and will be central to how we build, deploy, and operate our platform. The role is an even split between building and running: automating infrastructure with Terraform, improving our GitLab CI pipelines, and strengthening observability, while also keeping a security-sensitive production environment fast, available, and recoverable.

Our customers hold us to a high bar. TitanFile is SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certified, and we are pursuing FedRAMP certification to serve the U.S. federal market. The right DevOps engineer will appreciate the importance of security, availability, usability, and performance in software systems, and will not be afraid to use cutting-edge technology to solve mission-critical enterprise problems. We expect our engineers to work fluently with AI tooling and to apply the same engineering judgment to what it produces as they would to their own work.

What you'll do:

Qualifications:

• 4 to 7 years of full-time experience in DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, or platform engineering

• Strong Linux fundamentals, including troubleshooting, performance, and system administration, not just managed services
• Proficiency in scripting and automation with Python and Bash Solid networking and security fundamentals, including VPCs, DNS, TLS, firewalls, and least-privilege access
• Hands-on experience with database operations, backups, and restore testing Fluent use of AI coding assistants to accelerate infrastructure and automation work, with the judgment to review, test, and challenge generated code before it reaches production
• Production experience with AWS Experience with infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitLab CI
• Experience running containerized workloads, ideally ECS Fluent written and verbal communication in English

Nice to have:

• Experience with Azure Experience with Prometheus and Grafana
• Experience supporting a compliance program such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or FedRAMP
• Experience with secure coding practices and the OWASP Top 10
• Experience with Django or Python application environments
• AWS certification
