Job summary

NorthStar Earth & Space seeks experienced software engineers to join the image processing and orbit determination teams in Montreal. You will help design, implement, test and deploy pipelines, leverage cloud processing and big data, and contribute to a multidisciplinary group advancing space-domain awareness.

The role requires 5+ years in software engineering, Go/Java/Python proficiency (Go preferred), Kubernetes expertise, and strong collaboration across English and French.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, physics or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience with Go, Java or Python; Go is the language of choice.
• Experience delivering complex functionality and distributed software systems.
• Experience with the software development lifecycle and project documentation.
• Strong Kubernetes experience including deployment and operations.
• Good knowledge of CI/CD tools and relational or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with orchestration platforms like Temporal and data tools like Apache Iceberg and Apache Spark.
• Excellent collaboration in a multidisciplinary team and ability to work independently.
• Ability to work in English and French.

NorthStar Ciel & Terre utilise les données des télescopes optiques pour créer des services d'information adaptés aux besoins des clients du gouvernement et de l'industrie. Son portefeuille comprend la dynamique des orbites et des algorithmes d'apprentissage automatique pour diverses applications de sensibilisation au domaine spatial et de gestion du trafic spatial.

Nous recherchons des Développeurs et Développeuses de logiciel de niveau intermédiaire et sénior pour rejoindre nos équipes de traitement de l'image (IP) et de détermination d'orbite (OD).

L’équipe

L'équipe SI2 est multidisciplinaire et regroupe des scientifiques, ingénieurs et développeurs de logiciels ayant une formation en physique, en ingénierie dynamique, en informatique et en conception de logiciels. Nous développons des solutions innovantes pour surveiller l'environnement spatial à partir de multiples sources d'observations et de données géospatiales.

Tes responsabilités

Nous comptons sur toi pour :

• Concevoir, mettre en œuvre, tester et déployer le pipeline de traitement et les capacités logicielles de NorthStar.
• Appliquer le traitement distribué en infonuagique ainsi que les méthodes et technologies des mégadonnées.
• Déployer des flux d’application pour le traitement automatisé et à la demande des données satellitaires.
• Participer aux discussions techniques, revues de conception, revues de code et vérifications de fonctionnalité avec les développeurs et chercheurs.
• Créer et maintenir la documentation technique des logiciels et produits.
• Définir, concevoir et mettre en œuvre de nouvelles solutions technologiques innovantes.
• Participer aux discussions sur les développements commerciaux et technologiques afin de soutenir la planification et l’exécution de la feuille de route des produits.

Ton profil

• Au moins 5 années d’expérience en génie logiciel, et plus pour les rôles séniors.
• Baccalauréat en informatique, génie logiciel, mathématiques, physique ou équivalent.
• Expérience démontrée avec Go, Java ou Python. Nous utilisons les trois, mais Go est notre langage de préférence; une expérience en Go est donc un avantage.
• Expérience dans la livraison de fonctionnalités complexes et le développement de systèmes logiciels distribués.
• Expérience du cycle de développement logiciel, incluant la documentation des projets et produits.
• Bonne expérience dans un environnement Kubernetes, incluant le déploiement et l’opération des services.
• Bonne connaissance des outils CI/CD.
• Familiarité avec les bases de données relationnelles ou NoSQL.
• Familiarité avec les plateformes d’orchestration telles que Temporal.
• Familiarité avec les outils et technologies de gestion de données à haut volume tels qu’Apache Iceberg et Apache Spark.
• Excellente capacité à travailler en équipe dans un environnement multidisciplinaire.
• Bonnes aptitudes en résolution de problèmes et enthousiasme face aux nouveaux défis.
• Esprit d’initiative et capacité à travailler de manière autonome.
