Job summary

Electronic Arts in Vancouver (EA SPORTS NHL) seeks a Development Manager to lead a 3D art and software team, ensuring timely feature delivery within budget. The role involves managing engineers, artists, and designers in a hybrid environment (onsite 3 days/week in Vancouver).

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in project management for game development and 3D art lifecycles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, Business, or related field.
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development (Jira, Perforce, Visio).
  • Proven ability to manage large cross-functional teams and resolve conflicts.
  • Experience using generative AI tools to streamline workflows and prototype ideas.

  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide management escalation, project prioritization, tradeoffs, balance needs vs constraints, and promote partner deployments.
  • Focus on the immediate team and identify team issues; suggest solutions related to execution goals; identify task-related processes to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure each project setup meets specifications with Studio with regular status reporting and capacity plan updates.
  • Establish engagement processes to ensure workflows are defined, processes documented, and staff trained in expectations.

Reporting to a Development Director, a Development Manager (DM) ensures the game feature delivery is on time and within budget. This DM will support our 3D Characters team and will oversee the project schedule and manage the team to achieve a high standard. This team works hybrid/onsite in Vancouver, 3 days/week: Tuesday - Thursday.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage a development team which generally consists of Software Engineers, Animators, Artists, and Designers.

Your Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Project Management or Project Lead Experience with 3D art production lifecycles, processes and project planning
  • Bachelor's degree in any number of related fields including Computer Science, Game Development, Business, 3D Arts.
  • Experience in a Scrum / Agile software development environment (Jira, Perforce, and Visio)
  • Experience working with expansive teams, mediation and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to use generative AI productivity tools for daily workflow optimization, early-stage ideation, rapid prototyping, with the ability to critically validate AI output and iterate effectively

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

PAY RANGES

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.

For Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and other incentive programs.
