VOCM Cares Development Coordinator

VOCM Cares is a charitable foundation that supports communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador through charitable initiatives. VOCM Cares is the central point of community involvement for Stingray Radio stations in the province.

We are currently looking for a Development Coordinator to join our VOCM Cares Foundation! This position reports to the Fund Development Manager.

The Development Coordinator role will support and expand on active community programs in a fast-paced charitable environment. Salary range aligns with charitable sector averages within the province. Your day-to-day
  • Event/Project management – Plan and implement annual fundraisers and partnered community events. Provide project administration support prior, during and post events. Projects/events may include but are not limited to Block the Bus, Coats for Kids, Pack the Pub, Happy Tree campaign, virtual or in-person Radiothons and more.
  • Social media management - Oversee and grow the Foundation’s profile via social media channels, including secondary event pages.
  • Relationship management – Establish and/or maintain key connections with donors, charities, sponsors, and community partners.
  • Volunteer program development – Recruit and maintain the database of program volunteers.
  • Board of Directors Relations – Assist with meeting prep, minutes, and other related duties.
  • Community and Media Relations – Participate in third-party events and charity recipient programs/initiatives. Act as foundation spokesperson where needed/possible.
  • Maintain the RADIO BINGO program; including communications and relationships with community partners, data/sales reconciling, inventory preparations and shipping.
  • Database assistance – Assist with accounting and database needs, including but not limited to, bank deposits, reconciliations, payment processing, issuing charitable receipts etc.
Your qualifications
  • College or University education with minimum 3-5 years related experience; in public relations, marketing, communications, fundraising, administration or similar.
  • Experience (minimum 2 years) in non-profit sector.
  • Highly organized, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive partnerships both internally and externally.
  • Strong written communication skills. Experience in writing persuasively is an asset.
  • Independent and adaptable with a willingness to be flexible and effectively manage multiple projects within an ever-changing work environment.
  • High degree of initiative, independence and self-motivation.
  • Experience with social media management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Excel is an asset.
  • Experience with website content, updates and maintenance.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Comfortable working within a team environment and sustain positive working relationships.
