Job summary

A technology services company in Toronto is seeking a resourceful individual to support their High Interest Savings Account project. The ideal candidate should have 8+ years of technology experience and 3+ years with Node.js, along with significant experience in cloud platforms like Google Cloud and Docker. Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are a must, along with a degree in a related technical field. The position is hybrid with a contract duration of 4 months.

Job description

Location & Schedule

Hybrid – 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Subject to change: 3–4 days onsite may be required based on business needs. Contract Duration: 4 months – to 05/19/2026. Possibility of extension until fiscal year end 2026. FYI HM will have 2 more positions in January for other projects once funding is secured. Schedule Hours: 9am–5pm Monday–Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week.

Business Group & Project

Business group: CBE Commerce and Communication – team is in commerce domain, managing applications supporting; team of 11. Project: support the HISA 2026 roadmap – High Interest Savings Account. The program will have ongoing projects to support this product, and this team is managing the application; therefore an extra resource is needed to support this as we do not have capacity with the current headcount.

Candidate Requirements / Must Have Skills

1. 8+ years’ of relevant working experience in technology.
2. 3+ years’ expertise in Node.js development, with hands‑on experience across both backend and frontend applications.
3. Proven experience deploying and managing applications on public cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP – preferred) or Microsoft Azure.
4. 3+ years’ hands‑on experience with backend technology/API development.
5. 3+ years’ experience with containerization technologies, particularly Docker.

Nice‑To‑Have Skills

• Demonstrated success in designing, developing, and deploying large‑scale, end‑to‑end projects.
• Proficiency with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Solid understanding of software development best practices, including secure coding, quality assurance, and integration methodologies.
• Experience with Java.
• Experience with Salesforce.
• Experience with Akamai (protection and caching tool).

Soft Skills Required

• Strong communication – verbal & written.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced and demanding work environment.

Education

Bachelor’s / College degree / diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.

Best vs. Average Candidate

• Strong technical skills – Node.js being the main one.
• Ability to take ownership and action with minimal hand‑holding.

Candidate Review & Selection – Interview Process

2 rounds – 1 hour – In Person interviews only at 44 King. 1st – HM Review – potentially Dec 23rd or following week Dec 29th & 30th. Codility will be sent to candidate after 1st round – HM will send link – 5 business days to complete. 2nd – Technical with 2 team members – likely early Jan.
