Job summary

MNP in Canada seeks a Designated Professional for our Assurance & Accounting team. You will provide tailored financial information and deliver compilation, review and audit engagements, while mentoring junior staff and fostering client relationships.

You will manage multiple client files, perform tax engagements, and participate in business development within a leading national accounting firm known for its entrepreneurial culture.

Qualifications

• Must hold a CPA designation and be eligible for designation with the applicable accounting body.
• 2–4 years of public accounting experience.
• Experience using accounting and tax software.
• Solid understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles.

Responsibilities

• Conduct compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements.
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files and perform inventory counts.
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, asset acquisitions/disposals and payroll walkthroughs with clients.
• Summarize client financial status with balance sheets, P&L and related reports.
• Assess the adequacy of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, assets and payables.
• Review and rectify discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
• Prepare charts of accounts and posting entries to ledgers.
• Develop client correspondence, reports and presentations outlining findings.
• Coach and mentor junior team members and participate in business development.

Responsibilities

• Conduct compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements
• Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files simultaneously and conduct inventory counts
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition and disposition and payroll walk-through with clients
• Summarize clients’ current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other relevant reports
• Assess and assure appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable and prepaid expenses
• Review, investigate and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accounts
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights
• Develop effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members
• Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

Skills and Experience

• CPA designation
• 2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting experience
• Experience working with accounting and tax software
• Understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
