Job description
About Us:

SAJO is a design–build firm specializing in retail environments, from flagship stores and rollouts to pop-ups and experiential spaces. We bring creativity and precision together under one roof — from concept and design development to fabrication and construction. Our team thrives on collaboration, problem-solving, and delivering beautifully executed spaces for leading retail brands.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Design Project Coordinator with a strong background in architecture or design to support the coordination of project drawings and documentation. This role bridges design and construction, ensuring design intent is accurately translated into buildable solutions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and fluent in both technical drafting and project coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain design and construction drawings, including plans, elevations, details, and shop drawings.
  • Coordinate with internal design, estimating, and construction teams to ensure accuracy and constructability of drawings.
  • Prepare drawing packages for client approvals.
  • Manage drawing revisions and documentation flow between design and site teams.
  • Review architectural and consultant drawings, integrating them into overall project documentation.
  • Assist in design development, material research, and selection to align with brand and budget.
  • Assist the design project manager in the development and coordination of the project.
  • Support project scheduling and milestone deliverables with a focus on design accuracy and deadlines.
  • Participate in client and site meetings to track design-related decisions and changes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a design, architectural, or design–build environment (retail experience preferred).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite considered assets.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, detailing, and building systems.
  • Experience coordinating with construction teams, fabricators, and vendors.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with ability to manage multiple active projects.
  • Strong attention to accuracy, detail, and visual presentation of drawings.
Preferred Attributes:
  • Familiarity with retail construction standards and rollout programs.
  • Knowledge of millwork drawings, fixture packages, and shop drawing coordination.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proactive problem-solver who bridges design intent and field execution.
What We Offer:
  • Collaborative environment where design and construction work hand-in-hand.
  • Opportunity to work on high-profile retail projects across North America.
  • Competitive compensation package with growth potential.
  • Supportive team culture that values creativity, precision, and initiative.
