Job description

We help companies manage and access the world's spatial data.

Any size, any slice, any insight.

Delivered in seconds.

BigGeo is defining a new infrastructure category for how spatial and temporal data is organized, accessed, computed, and used across systems, organizations, and AI.

The Spatial Cloud provides a unified architecture that enables organizations to manage spatial data they own, access spatial data from external sources, and produce decision-ready intelligence in seconds.

By combining Unified Data, Real-Time Compute, and Governed Monetization, BigGeo transforms fragmented spatial datasets into a shared operational layer that powers real-world awareness across industries, infrastructure systems, and AI platforms.

Why BigGeo Exists and Why People Build Here

We don't start by asking why you'd be a good fit for us. We start by being clear about what we're building and why it matters.

BigGeo is building the Spatial Cloud, a foundational infrastructure for how spatial data is managed, accessed, and used in real time across systems, AI, and organizations.

BigGeo is the Spatial Cloud.

We help companies manage and access the world's spatial data, any size, any slice, any insight, delivered in seconds.

Joining BigGeo means contributing to technology that is shaping a new category as it takes form. The BigGeo team is AI-enabled, cross-functional, and highly collaborative. We value ownership, clarity, and leveraging AI tools to build incredible momentum. The work moves quickly, expectations are high, and impact is visible because what we build is used in real-world environments.

At BigGeo, you will:

  • Contribute to systems that influence how spatial data is managed and applied
  • Leverage cutting edge AI tools so that your work shows up in real, high-impact use cases
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team solving complex, meaningful problems
  • Work in an environment where autonomy is trusted, results matter, and AI tools are harnessed to boost creativity, output, and results

If you want to do work with real-world impact and help build foundational technology that changes how organizations understand and use spatial intelligence, BigGeo is the place to build that future.

The Role

The Design Lead owns the visual language of the Spatial Cloud, elevating BigGeo's product from functional and operational to something that feels considered and desired.

This is a hard hire: we are not looking for a graphic designer, we're looking for someone with real design systems fluency who can look at any screen and identify exactly what makes it more appealing, clickable, and organized.

You'll work alongside our UX/UI designer and design systems function to close the gap between what BigGeo's product does and how it feels to use.

If you've shipped visual language for tech products before and know the difference between decoration and design, this is where that experience compounds.

What You'll Do
  • Own the visual design language across BigGeo's platform, translating functional screens into interfaces that feel intentional and desired
  • Partner with our UX/UI designer and design systems team to close the gap between what a feature does and how it feels to use
  • Audit existing product surfaces and identify concrete, high-leverage visual improvements across spacing, hierarchy, clickability, and flow
  • Bring a customer-first lens to design decisions, grounded in how End User, Data Partner, and Solution Partner customers actually move through the platform
  • Build and evolve visual patterns that complement Meridian, our design system, without duplicating its structural work
  • Use AI-assisted design tools to accelerate concepting, iteration, and visual exploration without sacrificing craft
  • Collaborate directly with Product and Engineering to make sure visual decisions ship as designed, not just as approved
  • Bring outside perspective on what best-in-class SaaS visual design looks like and apply it to a category that's still defining its own conventions
What You Bring
Required:
  • Proven experience as a product designer or design lead in a tech or software environment, not agency or brand design
  • Deep fluency with design systems: how to work within one, extend it, and know when to introduce something new
  • A portfolio that shows visual judgment, with specific decisions that made a product more appealing, clickable, or usable
  • Comfort partnering closely with engineering to make sure visual intent survives implementation
  • Customer-first instincts, with the ability to translate abstract customer needs into concrete visual decisions
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools to accelerate design iteration, concepting, and production work
Nice to Have:
  • Experience designing for complex, data-heavy, or technical B2B products
  • Familiarity with geospatial, mapping, or data visualization interfaces
  • Startup or early-stage company experience where design systems were still being built
  • Experience mentoring or influencing other designers without formal management authority
