Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Project Manager to join our Program Management team in Canada. You’ll ensure project success by overseeing scope, schedule, budget, contracts, and stakeholder communication across design to construction phases.

You will lead teams, manage client relationships, and resolve issues on large-scale projects while traveling to site locations as required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage scope, budget and schedule from initiation to construction completion.
  • Provide day-to-day project oversight and client communication.
  • Develop, track, forecast and modify project schedule and budget.
  • Review contracts, invoices and payments to contractors and vendors.
  • Prepare client reports and stakeholder updates.
  • Assist with contract negotiations as needed.
  • Oversee design and CA construction phases and team coordination.
  • Review and approve invoices and change orders.
  • Evaluate disputes and claims and provide resolution input.
  • Act as an ambassador of Stantec in client interactions.

Stantec is seeking a Project Manager (PM) to join our Program Management team. The Project Manager ensures the success of assigned projects through prudent management and oversight of all resources. The PM applies superior client service skills and project management best practices to deliver projects that meet financial and other objectives while exceeding client expectations. The successful candidate welcomes opportunities and challenges and brings superior consulting skills to each client interaction.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the approved scope, budget and schedule of projects from client initiation, through design and to completion of construction.
  • Provide day-to-day project oversight and communication with the client and project team.
  • Develop, track, update, forecast and modify the project schedule and budget throughout all phases of the project.
  • Review and track all contracts, invoices, and payments to all contractors, consultants, and vendors.
  • Prepare reports for clients and other stakeholders.
  • Able to understand contracts and can assist with the negotiation of contracts.
  • Knows design and CA construction phases of project and can manage the team and related parties in these phases.
  • Review and approve all invoices and change orders associated with the project.
  • Evaluate, advise on, and assist in resolving disputes and claims.
  • Act as an ambassador of the company in all interactions with clients, consultants, and peers.
Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to perform well under the pressure of deadlines.
  • Adapts to a dynamic project environment and able to manage multiple tasks over an extended period.
  • Speaks clearly and persuasively with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Identifies open items and determines their impact on the critical path along with a proven ability to resolve same in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with internal clients, external clients, subcontractors, and subconsultants.
  • Strong computer literacy in scheduling, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software.
  • Experience with budget management in a package or custom software.
  • Understanding of plans and specifications.
  • Solidunderstanding of design and construction process and requirements.
  • Comfortable on site and engaging with Contractors as needed.
  • Strong leadership skills & the ability to move a team forward.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in large scale industrial or similar construction projects.
  • Familiarity with Ontario and/or Canadian Design and Construction standard documents, contracts, and specifications.
  • Ability to travel and visit project site locations as required.

Education and Experience

  • A technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in a related field; Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field preferred.
  • Minimum 8years of related experience.
  • A Project Management certification such as PMP or an equivalent designation would be an asset.

About the Team

Pay Transparency:In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
