Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience working with signaling in areas such as V&V, Design or Application.
  • Experience in directing large validation test teams.
  • Professional Engineer Certification desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor engineer design releases have the required verification documentation.
  • Specify overall tests and project specific testing plans.
  • Approve test readiness reviews between test phases and ensure completion.
  • Monitor and approve overall testing results and reports.
  • Provide leadership to validation and commissioning test teams.

Objective

The Deputy Validation and Commissioning (V&C) Engineering Manager is responsible for supporting the Validation and Commissioning (V&C) Engineering Group Manager in the oversight to ensure the seamless execution of the project Verification and Validation (V&V) and Test and Commissioning (T&C) activities in accordance with defined and accepted processes. The Deputy V&C Engineering Manager supports Validation and Commissioning (V&C) Engineering Group Manager in leading the V&V and T&C Managers to ensure the successful integration of each subsystem through to the final project delivery. The Deputy V&C Engineering Manager supports Validation and Commissioning (V&C) Engineering Group Manager in the responsibility for the overall test program and accountable to internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor engineer design releases have the required verification documentation.
  • Specify overall tests: project specific testing plans, and project specific test specifications.
  • Approve test readiness reviews between test phases, ensuring test inputs are available including Engineering verification tests are complete.
  • Monitor and approve overall testing results, test reports and associated change request.
  • Participate in test discrepancy review, ensure follow-up actions with assignees are documented.
  • Provide leadership to validation and commissioning test teams.
  • Provide leadership to sub-system validation teams in their execution.
  • Perform customer acceptance tests, participate to site tests.
  • Ensure acceptability of required validation test environment & tools (test bench, recording tools, simulated I/O).
  • Estimate workload, realize schedule and follow up validation and commissioning test activities.
  • Manage validation and commissioning work products under configuration management according to Configuration management plan.
  • Ensure test traceability vs. requirements according to Requirements Management Plan.
  • Supports the Validation and Commissioning (V&C) Engineering Group Manager in managing interfaces between discrete phases of subsystem testing, such as interlocking (i.e., SML) and automatic train protection (i.e., ETCS L2).
  • Supports the Validation and Commissioning (V&C) Engineering Group Manager in managing interface between V&V and T&C testers.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline experience
  • At least 10 years of experience working with signaling in areas such as V&V, Design or Application.
  • Experience in directing large validation test teams
  • Professional Engineer Certification desirable.
  • Specific experience with traditional Interlocking, Subsystem interfaces testing, Networking, Power Systems is desired.
  • Knowledge in PLC programming, software coding, test automation/scripting experience is a plus
