Job summary

The City of Cornwall is seeking a Deputy Fire Chief, Community Risk & Emergency Management, to provide senior leadership across emergency planning, prevention, and community risk initiatives. This role reports to the Fire Chief and collaborates with municipal departments, external agencies and regulatory partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in fire administration or related field.
• NFPA Fire Officer III or equivalent leadership experience.
• Community Emergency Management Coordinator qualification or ability to obtain.
• Ontario Class D with Z air brake endorsement; CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for Emergency Management, Fire Prevention and community risk reduction.
• Coordinate development, implementation and maintenance of municipal emergency plans.
• Lead corporate emergency preparedness including hazard identification, training, exercises and public education.
• Oversee Fire Prevention services including inspections, Fire Code enforcement and investigations.
• Develop operating plans, budgets and resource allocations for assigned functions; ensure performance and compliance.
• Prepare reports and briefings to the Fire Chief, Senior Leadership Team and Council.
