Job summary

Sport Chek in Canada is seeking a Department Sales Manager of Footwear who loves sport and believes in delivering an exceptional customer experience. You will coach and develop your footwear team, lead by example, and build daily sales plans to grow the department’s performance.

With at least two years of retail leadership experience and a passion for sports, you will foster a positive environment, drive sales, and strengthen brand loyalty through coaching, communication, and hands-on mentorship.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in a retail environment, preferably supervisory.
• Proven track record of business growth and exceptional customer service skills.
• Demonstrated interest in or involvement in sports or the sporting goods industry is a plus.

What you’ll do

As a Department Sales Manager of Footwear, you have a passion for sports and live an active lifestyle. You know shoes, are keenly interested to learn more, and maybe even a sneaker head! You demonstrate a positive and engaged attitude when dealing with customers and employees and are responsible for coaching and developing your team. As an ambassador and leader of the customer experience you look to develop relationships with customers and provide mentorship and coaching to your team to ensure the same. Coach and develop your department team by setting expectations, keeping open lines of communication, coaching on a continual basis, providing constructive feedback, and ongoing support. Build and manage a daily game and sales plan for the department. Create development plans for full‑time staff - providing support and coaching to improve any performance gaps. Communicate skills proven through effective huddles / meetings / coaching sessions. Develop and maintain a positive work environment for staff.

Our typical hiring range is between $42,500 and $56,250. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, store size and market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role‑specific requirements.
