Responsibilities

In this role, you will be tasked with collecting metal pieces from a moving conveyor belt, ensuring that all debris is efficiently removed. Your responsibilities also include maintaining a clean and organized environment around the yard. Additionally, you will provide support to the shredder mechanics by helping them with the replacement of conveyors and bearing shafts, as well as performing routine greasing to ensure smooth operation. Your attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively will contribute to the overall maintenance and efficiency of our operations.

  • Keeps the work area clean and ready to go daily
  • Keeps conveyor pulleys clean
  • Picks copper to ensure that quality material is shipped to our customers
  • Report any issues that arise immediately
  • Assists in meeting monthly production goals
Qualifications
  • Completion of High School and/or equivalent
  • Must have reliable transportation, as the work site is not accessible by public transit
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting, and pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the day
  • Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions, including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions
  • Willing and able to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in dust, odors, fumes, and noise
  • Ability to learn and follow directions
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Self-motivated: Initiates and takes action before being required to do so
  • Strong work ethic: uses time efficiently, works safely, and makes sure everyone around him is working safely
  • Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Able to communicate clearly, including using a handheld radio
