DAY CAMP ANIMATOR & COUNSELOR IN TRAINING

Contract Duration: June 16 – August 8, 2025

Salary: $16–$17/hour, based on experience

Overview:

We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and creative individuals to join our summer team as Camp Animators. Working with children ages 5–12, Camp Animators will plan and lead engaging daily activities in a fun, inclusive, and safe environment. This position is funded by Government of Canada’s Summer Youth Employment initiative and therefore the age of the candidate must be 18-30.

Key Dates:

Camp Program: June 29 – July 31

Program Hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Extended Care: 8:00–9:00 AM & 4:00–5:30 PM

End of Contract: August 8 (includes wrap-up week)

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a group of children ages 5–12, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
  • Plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, sports, and themed activities
  • Support the implementation of the overall summer program in alignment with camp values
  • Participate in pre-camp training and staff meetings
  • Communicate effectively with camp staff, parents, and children
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all participants
  • Assist with set‑up, clean‑up, and daily transitions, including extended care
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or concerns to supervisors promptly

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children (camp, school, daycare, volunteer, etc.)
  • Reliable, creative, and energetic personality
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to camp start)
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
