Senior Database Administrator / Developer. ONSITE (OTTAWA)

Mandatory Skills
- Must hold University degree or post-secondary diploma from an accredited Canadian or equivalent (WES) institution with ten (10) years progressive experience in database administration with a significant development component.
- Must have Formal Oracle DBA training or certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional).
- Must have 2 projects in the past 15 years installing, using, and maintaining Oracle version 12 or greater on Windows and Linux systems in a secure environment
- Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience with Oracle Backup and Recovery (RMAN) and other redundant and failover architectures in the past 15 years
- Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience writing OS and Python scripts to support database operations in the past 15 years.
The scope of work of the Contract includes, but is not limited to :
The Senior Database Administrator / Developer professional will be expected to execute the following tasks during this contract, but not limited to :
- Database administration within a software development group, including :
- Database analysis and design;
- Database monitoring and problem resolution;
- Physical hardware analysis and design;
- Change control management;
- Performance analysis and tuning;
- Developing and maintaining application reports (against the database);
- Implementation of database objects and interface software;
- Assisting developers with database access coding.
- Provide third level (and sometimes second level) database administration support for deployed systems.
- Respond to ad-hoc system monitoring and / or statistical reporting requirements from the Technical Authority.
- Provide methodologies, source code / tools, and documentation for the administration and tuning of multiple Oracle databases.
- Development of software utilizing multiple Oracle databases. This includes assistance with software development, database tuning and system monitoring.
- Called on to give briefings, participate in meeting, field questions, produce reports or give demonstrations during the course of this contract.
- Work independently with minimal direction from the Technical Authority.
- Any other assigned tasks by the Technical Authority.
