What is the Opportunity:

As the Data Steward, you will be a key member of the BPMO – Enterprise Analytics and Data Governance (EADG) team, working closely with the IS team and business units to enable trusted, reusable, and relevant data to be accessible. Additionally, you will be an owner of the Business Glossary and the Data Dictionary, with the goal to maintain visibility of the current data inventory and data landscape.

What You’ll Do Here:
  • Establish and provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge on relevant data models, operating standards, policies, and rules to business users, Data Analysts, and Data Engineers.
  • Own and set the baseline for the Business Glossary and Data Dictionary with Information Service (IS) team.
  • Collaborate with the Information Security team and data owners to define, co‑own, and enforce data classification (e.g. Contents, sensitivity, value) policy.
  • Through establishing data validations and communication with data owners, ensure data is accurately categorized and classified for consistent application across the organization.
  • Ensure search criteria and filters help data consumers find relevant data.
  • Provide profiling information and data lineage to all data users to establish end‑user trust in the data that is made available to them.
  • Address issues identified by data users in the Business Glossary and Data Dictionary to ensure data relevancy and discoverability.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts for data discovery—to locate the required analytical data in the source systems, ensuring the correct data is made available to end users and simplifying data engineering processes for IS counterparts.
  • Ensure metadata is accurately linked and updated for critical data elements.
  • Use data cataloging tools and metadata repositories to document and organize data assets.
  • Guide data profiling and quality assessment processes.
  • Review and refine the catalog establishment process for relevancy and usability.
  • Implement and enforce data classification policy and best practices.
What You Bring to the Team:
  • An undergraduate degree in computer science, information management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Certifications in Data Governance or Data Management (e.g., DAMA, CDMP, DCAM) are considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in Data Governance and/or Data Management or analysis working with non‑residential construction data and related processes.
  • Ability to decipher and organize large amounts of data.
  • An analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills, coupled with the ability to identify complex problems and discuss resolutions clearly and in non‑technical terms.
  • Experience creating and implementing data standards in systems used by construction companies, including construction schedules from P6.
  • Committed to following a standard intake and prioritization process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with cross‑functional teams.
  • An ability to manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Strong support experience and excellent documentation skills.
  • Experience with SQL and data modeling tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge in SAP is a plus.
