What You’ll Do

Epic Games is seeking to expand its Insights team with a focus on Observability. We are looking for a Data Scientist to assist us in delivering and maintaining an Epic-quality live service game. This role wears many hats, juggles dynamic priorities, and works toward constantly moving targets. You’ll create Data Tools, Workbooks, and Dashboards to support global Epic Development and Publishing efforts.

In this role, you will
  • Expand on Epic’s real-time Observability Framework by building, maintaining, and working with stakeholders to produce insightful product health monitoring and alerting.
  • Educate key stakeholders on real-time data and provide clear sources of truth to make high-velocity data-driven decisions.
  • Advocate for the player – coordinate across multiple disciplines, teams, and time zones to maintain a high-quality live service product.
  • Dig into data, utilizing existing tools and rapid ad-hoc querying and visualization to help resolve active live issues.
  • Drive Observability evolution – continuously re-evaluate existing dashboards for opportunities to improve our data story. Work with Data Teams to leverage the latest data features and tools.
What we’re looking for
  • Proficiency with Grafana, DataDog, Kibana, or Amazon CloudWatch
  • Proficiency with JPath, PromQL, SQL, or strong knowledge of scripting languages.
  • Prior experience in analytics, project management, release management, production, or analytics qa.
  • Strong in-the-moment problem-solving skills and ability to break large problems into manageable and actionable pieces.
  • Ability to communicate equally effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
  • Flexible availability - including on-call - and strong time management skills.

British Columbia Base Pay Range $138,840 — $203,632 CAD
