Job summary

PSP Investments is seeking a Data Scientist to join Alpha Science, supporting investment decisions with AI across the pension fund and related entities. You will build data pipelines, clean datasets, and conduct ML analyses to generate actionable insights for deal teams.

Based in Montréal with a hybrid schedule, you will partner with senior colleagues to create dashboards and reusable tools, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a quantitative field from a recognized university.
• 2–3 years of data science or data analytics experience in finance or analytics-intensive environments.
• Strong Python and SQL for data extraction, wrangling, analysis, and modeling.
• Experience extracting/structuring data from varied sources (documents, filings, APIs, feeds).
• Cloud/lakehouse data platforms experience (Databricks, Snowflake) is a plus.
• Experience applying statistical or ML techniques to real-world datasets.
• Experience building dashboards/visualizations (Power BI, Tableau, or Python visuals).
• Exposure to alternative datasets (geolocation, foot traffic, satellite, pricing) is an asset.
• Investing/deals experience in Public Markets/Real Assets is a plus.
• Excellent written/spoken communication; English and French proficiency or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Source, clean, and maintain datasets feeding Alpha Science analyses and tools.
• Design and build data pipelines turning raw sources into analysis-ready data.
• Conduct hands-on analysis and ML modeling to support investment theses.
• Turn analyses into dashboards and reusable tools for deal teams across asset classes.
• Prepare clear materials for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
