Description

Reporting to the Senior Business Partner, Data Governance, the Data Governance Specialist will collaborate with the Senior Business Partner, Data Governance to establish and implement a data governance framework. As the Data Governance Specialist, you are responsible for developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with regulations, industry practices, and organizational goals.

In this role you will work closely with Business Intelligence teams and Data owners across the organization’s operating groups to ensure data governance standards and best practices are being applied consistently.

Essential Qualifications
  • Develops and maintains data governance policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines
  • Establishes data standards and definitions to ensure consistency, accuracy, and high trust data
  • Ensures alignment with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and organizational objectives
  • Recommends improvements to data governance processes as business, technology, and regulatory needs evolve
  • Implements and reports on data governance metrics to track compliance, adoption, and performance
  • Defines and oversees data classification, quality assessment, monitoring, and improvement processes
  • Develops and maintains metadata standards for structure, organization, and accessibility
  • Leads Data Governance Committee operations, engagement, communications, and stakeholder coordination
  • Provides guidance, training, and awareness programs to promote governance understanding and adoption
  • Facilitates cross-functional collaboration to drive accountability and support data governance initiatives
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in data governance, with supporting experience in business intelligence and data analysis
  • Certifications in data management or governance (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) considered an asset
  • Exposure to Collibra and Databricks; experience with Collibra workflows and modules preferred
  • Proven experience developing and deploying data governance programs
  • Strong expertise in designing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures
  • Experience with metadata standards and frameworks to support data discovery and lineage tracking
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify and resolve data governance issues
  • Familiarity with data governance or data management tools and working knowledge of Big Data and Data Lake environments
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess, quantify, and escalation risks related to data governance or non-compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams to drive alignment and deliver results
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, attention to detail, sense of urgency, and commitment to deadlines
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and decision-making skills
Working Conditions
  • This is a hybrid position, most work will take place from the candidates home, with the understanding that there will be in person office attendance as business needs require.
Compensation

$ 92,000 -$126,500 Annual

This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
