A leading energy firm in Canada is seeking a Data Steward to ensure quality and compliance of land data. You will support critical operations by maintaining data standards and managing internal and external data sources. The ideal candidate has a relevant degree and at least four years of experience in data management, preferably in the energy sector. In this role, you will serve as a trusted steward of our Lands & ROW systems, ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance with established standards. This role guides data management practices and supports data imports, aiding teams in making informed decisions with reliable land data.

Coordinate internal and external data sources, enforce agreements, evaluate changes, update standards.
Data Standards, Quality & Issue Resolution: Define, maintain, and standardize data definitions and entry rules for consistency as part of data stewardship.
Maintain documentation, develop training materials to educate users on proper procedures, promote governance benefits, update partners on critical metrics, and facilitate meetings to address challenges.
Support and verify bulk data imports, exports, archiving, and purging while ensuring compliance with retention and validation requirements. Ensure governed data supports accurate reporting, metrics, and dashboards, and assists in resolving related issues.
Related university degree. Equivalent combination of formal education, certification, and experience. Note for candidates who do not possess a degree, an additional 3 years of related experience is required.
4 years of relevant data management, stewardship or business intelligence experience required working in energy or infrastructure sectors.
Applied knowledge of AI tools to support data governance, analytics, reporting, and application support.
Software proficiency in Python, FME, SQL, Excel. Knowledge of or experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) Microsoft Dynamics and Azure.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external partners.
Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
