What You’ll Do
The Data Engineer will play a key role in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining automated and manual ETL/ELT data processes to ensure seamless data integration across systems. This role involves deep collaboration with internal teams, customers, and partners to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing data solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing business requirements to design, develop, and manage ETL/ELT pipelines and provide datasets for business consumption.
- Developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining complex data processes using T-SQL, SSIS, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Synapse, and Fabric, incorporating logging, data validation, and integrity checks.
- Designing and implementing scalable and cost-effective data storage solutions using Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Building and managing Fabric data lakes within Azure and Fabric environments.
- Configuring, monitoring, and maintaining automated data movement pipelines to ensure top performance, availability, and security.
- Optimizing data extraction and load performance while minimizing OLTP system impact.
- Refining and automating manual data processes using Microsoft data tools, including SQL Server, ADF, Synapse, and Fabric.
- Documenting technical and system specifications for all data movement and transformation processes.
- Collaborating with database administrators, software developers, and business analysts to troubleshoot and resolve data integration and storage issues.
- Assisting developers with complex query tuning and participating in SQL code reviews.
- Providing ad-hoc data support and communicating database changes, risks, and updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Responding to and resolving production issues promptly to maintain high system reliability.
What You Bring
The ideal candidate is a technically skilled and detail-oriented data professional with strong experience in Microsoft SQL Server and Azure data ecosystems, capable of managing complex integrations in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Advanced proficiency in MS SQL (T‑SQL) development and query performance tuning.
- Proven experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT processes using T‑SQL, SSIS, and Azure tools.
- Strong understanding of Azure services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse, and Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouses, notebooks, Spark, and pipelines).
- Familiarity with data architecture patterns, XML/JSON, and data orchestration processes.
- Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Reporting Services (SSRS), and Red‑Gate tools (asset).
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- High attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to balance multiple priorities.
