Job summary

IREN is seeking a Data Center Technician in Mackenzie, BC. You will monitor, maintain and troubleshoot the physical compute infrastructure across our data centers. This role requires a diploma or degree in IT and familiarity with Linux CLI, monitoring tools, and automation frameworks.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to reliability and sustainability of AI workloads. The position is full-time, onsite, with shift rotations including day/night/weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Diploma, degree, or recognized IT certification required for this role.
• Experience diagnosing issues in high-performance computing environments is a plus.
• Familiar with monitoring tools and infrastructure automation frameworks.
• Experience with Linux CLI and command-line interfaces.
• Strong attention to detail and SOP adherence.

Reporting to the Data Center Technical Lead, the Data Center Technician is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the physical compute infrastructure in our data center.

Job Requirements

• Diploma, degree, or recognized certification in Information Technology or a closely related field is required. Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, CDCP, CCNA are an advantage
• Ability to understand and assist in diagnosing complex issues related to high-performance computing environments
• Familiarity with monitoring tools, remote system management, and infrastructure automation frameworks
• Prior experience with command-line interfaces (CLI), particularly in Linux environments
• Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to follow standardized operating procedures
• Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, supporting the effective operation of people and systems across multiple data center sites
• A mindset focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence
• Strong personal integrity, openness, and professional honesty
• Ability to develop innovative, practical solutions to technical challenges
• Excellent organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels

This role requires availability for a rotational shift schedule including day, night, and weekend coverage. Candidates must be comfortable working overnight and maintaining productivity during off-peak hours. A shift premium may apply.
