Job summary

Collabera in Sherbrooke, QC, is seeking a Data Center Operations Manager to oversee a team of technicians and lead the day-to-day operations of the datacenter infrastructure.

You will ensure 24/7/365 availability, drive ongoing improvements in monitoring, security, and compliance, and coordinate with vendors, hosting providers, and internal stakeholders.

Strong leadership, networking, and mechanical/electrical DC systems expertise are essential to succeed in this role.

Job description

• Client is expanding their data center presence in Canada and growing their team, they need a manager to oversee the team of data center technicians to lead the operations of Client's datacenter infrastructure and team

Mission/ Expected to accomplish:

• Ensuring stability, performance, security, compliance, and continuous improvement of cloud infrastructure and services while meeting customer SLAs.

Project/initiative they will be supporting:

• No Specific project - Ongoing operation and continuous improvement of a critical datacenter environment.
• Infrastructure lifecycle management, including upgrades, renewals, deployments, and decommissioning.
• Improvement of datacenter monitoring, availability, security, compliance, and operational procedures.
• Customer and hosting-provider initiatives involving electrical connections, cabling, remote/on-site support, and infrastructure projects.
• Maintaining 24/7/365 service availability and responsiveness to customer requirements.
• Ensure reliable 24/7/365 operation of datacenter infrastructure and services.
• Lead and manage the datacenter operations team.
• Maintain infrastructure availability and meet established SLAs.
• Improve preventive maintenance, monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis processes.
• Ensure compliance with MOP, SOP, and EOP procedures.
• Manage infrastructure security, vulnerabilities, upgrades, and compliance audits.
• Maintain accurate DCIM/IPAM infrastructure records.
• Manage vendors, suppliers, technical partners, and service providers.
• Support budgeting, contract management, and infrastructure projects.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

• Supervise daily operations of critical datacenter infrastructure, including UPS, generators, chillers, precision cooling, and ancillary systems.
• Oversee deployment and installation of new IT equipment.
• Manage decommissioning, packaging, deliveries, access requests, and inventory.
• Monitor BMS and EPMS systems proactively.
• Ensure network connectivity and cabling standards are maintained.
• Lead responses to equipment failures, incidents, and infrastructure crises.
• Coordinate teams and stakeholders during incidents.
• Lead root-cause analyses and corrective actions.
• Develop preventive maintenance strategies.
• Oversee hardware/software infrastructure upgrades.
• Maintain physical and logical infrastructure repositories.
• Coordinate with hosting-provider operations teams.
• Schedule on-call coverage and planned operations.
• Manage suppliers and technical partners.
• Ensure Level 1 support requests are addressed within required timelines.
• Monitor infrastructure performance and take preventative action.
• Support infrastructure security and compliance activities.
• Monitor manufacturer vulnerabilities, firmware, and driver updates.
• Prepare infrastructure performance reports, KPIs, and SLA reporting.
• Address customer requests, complaints, and specific requirements.
• Conduct customer feedback and satisfaction analysis.
• Manage, coach, and develop the datacenter team.

Must-haves:

• Experience managing and leading technical teams
• Expertise in networking
• Strong knowledge of mechanical/electrical datacenter systems (BMS, CMMS, and EPMS systems.)
• Hardware and infrastructure knowledge. (cooling systems, operating systems, cloud computing, and virtualization.)
• Knowledge of infrastructure security and vulnerability management.
• Experience with incident management and root-cause analysis.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of applicable building codes and standards, including RBQ, CCQ, and ASHRAE.
• Working knowledge of Python and shell scripting.
• Knowledge of databases and administration, including SQL/Server.
