Job summary

A leading Canadian financial institution in Toronto, ON is hiring a Senior Data Analyst / Product Owner for a hybrid, long-term contract. The role focuses on Power BI, SQL, Python and Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Unity Catalog).

You will split time between hands-on analytics and product ownership, setting roadmaps, running backlogs, and building dashboards and datasets for risk leadership and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data analytics or related roles.
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
• Hands-on experience as both Product Owner and Data Analyst.
• Advanced Power BI skills: modelling, DAX, Power Query, dashboards, performance optimization.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Set the roadmap and manage the backlog for the product.
• Build dashboards and datasets as part of delivery.
• Collaborate with Risk leadership and senior stakeholders on key reporting.
• Support a large data modernization effort moving to cloud self-service analytics.

Job description

A leading Canadian financial institution is hiring a Senior Data Analyst / Product Owner for a hybrid, long-term contract role in Toronto, ON. The work is mostly Power BI, SQL, Python and Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Unity Catalog).

This role is half analyst and half product owner, and you’ll get to do both for real. You’ll set the roadmap and run the backlog, and you’ll also build the dashboards and datasets yourself. You’ll work directly with Risk leadership and senior stakeholders on reporting that matters to the business. You’ll also help with a large data modernization effort that moves reporting off manual processes and onto cloud self-service analytics. We want someone who has been a product owner and a hands-on analyst at a large organization and is comfortable switching between the two.

Contract Duration:

15 - 20 months

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, business analysis, product ownership or related roles
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, or a related field
• Hands-on experience as both a Product Owner and a Data Analyst
• Advanced Power BI skills: data modelling, DAX, Power Query, dashboard/report development and performance optimization
