About nesto and Nesto Cloud

nesto is Canada’s leading provider of mortgage technology and financing solutions, managing $73B+ CAD in residential and commercial mortgages, with 1,000+ team members across 12 offices nationwide. You will be working on Nesto Cloud, Canada’s most advanced cloud platform, delivering end-to-end technology solutions for lenders in the digital age.

As Data Analyst your primary focus is the administration, development, and optimization of our reporting ecosystem. You will serve as the bridge between legacy and modern reporting, taking full ownership of our SSRS request queue while simultaneously building high-impact dashboards in Power BI. This role is ideal for a hands‑on developer who is comfortable managing a busy ticket queue and driving the adoption of modern analytics.

Who You Are
  • A "Doer": You are comfortable jumping into a fast‑paced environment and taking immediate ownership of the reporting backlog.
  • A Visual Storyteller: You don't just put charts on a page; you build dashboards that tell a clear story and drive action.
  • The "Admin" Mindset: You enjoy the organization and governance required to keep a BI environment running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
SSRS Development & Maintenance (Core Responsibility)
  • Ownership of Requests: Handle all incoming requests for SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). This includes scoping and building new reports from scratch based on business needs.
  • Change Management: Execute change requests for existing SSRS reports, optimizing queries and adjusting layouts to match evolving business processes.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with report rendering, data accuracy, or subscription delivery in a timely manner.
Power BI Development & Administration
  • Modern Visualization: Design, develop, and deploy advanced Power BI dashboards that are intuitive, performant, and visually compelling.
  • Environment Admin: Oversee Power BI Service administration, including workspace management, security roles (RLS), and gateway configurations.
  • Data Modeling: Translate business requirements into clean, functional data models (DAX/Power Query) that serve as a "single source of truth."
Stakeholder Collaboration & Governance
  • Requirement Gathering: Work directly with business units to understand their KPIs and translate them into technical reporting specifications.
  • Data Integrity: Partner with the Data Engineering team to validate underlying data in SQL Server and Azure SQL.
  • Best Practices: Champion reporting standards, ensuring all new builds follow internal UI/UX and data governance guidelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in data analysis and BI reporting, preferably in Financial Services or FinTech.
  • SSRS Proficiency: Strong ability to design, develop, and deploy paginated reports using SSRS (Visual Studio / Report Builder). You should be comfortable writing complex T‑SQL queries / stored procedures to feed these reports.
  • Power BI Mastery: Expert knowledge of Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service (Admin). Proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M) is essential.
  • Database Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL (T‑SQL) for data extraction and a solid understanding of relational database structures (SQL Server / Azure SQL).
Soft Skills
  • Queue Management: Ability to prioritize and manage a backlog of reporting requests independently.
  • Attention to Detail: A "perfectionist" mindset when it comes to data accuracy and visual alignment.
  • Communication: Ability to explain data trends and technical limitations to non‑technical business users.

Time Zone: Must be located in or able to work consistently within the EST time zone (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM) to ensure synchronized collaboration with our national teams.

The Reward

The A-Team: Work alongside high‑performing talent in the industry.

Accelerated Growth: The slope of your learning curve here will be vertical. You will touch more production systems in one year than you would in five years at a bank.

Top‑Tier Coverage: Premium benefits plan fully paid by nesto, including comprehensive insurance and unlimited access to telemedicine and mental health services for you and your family.

Rest & Recharge: 4 weeks of vacation to ensure you stay at peak performance.

Best‑in‑Class Tools: Access to the resources and tech you need to execute without friction.

Working framework: the environment that makes you productive and enables teamwork.

We are committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and we strongly encourage women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and individuals with disabilities to apply.
