Job summary

Perimeter Aviation is seeking a 705 Captain to transport passengers and freight across Canada. Your top priorities are safety, on-time performance, and passenger comfort while adhering to SOPs, regulations, and company policies.

Based in Mississauga with bases across Winnipeg, Thompson and other northern communities, you will maintain TC qualifications, oversee flight planning, weight and balance, pre-flight checks and post-flight duties.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain security clearances and authorizations.
• Category 1 Medical certification.
• Current Group 1 Instrument Rating.
• ATPL with 500 hours on DHC-8 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate flights complying with SOPs, CARs, AFM and Ops Manual.
• Check weather and NOTAMs; determine fuel and oil needs.
• Compute airplane weight and balance.
• Review/accept the Operational Flight Plan (Type B 705).
• Conduct pre-flight inspections before each departure.
• Load and secure cargo/freight as required.
• Complete flight watch with the dispatcher (Type B 705).
• Perform post-flight duties and log flight times/defects.
• Maintain Transport Canada Pilot qualifications.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Chief Pilot, the 705 Captain transports thousands of passengers each year. As a pilot, your number one priority is to conduct each flight safely, taking into consideration the comfort of each passenger and on-time performance.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Conduct flights with strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures, Canadian Aviation Regulations, Aircraft Flight Manual, and the Company Operations Manual
• Check weather, all applicable NOTAMs where available and determine fuel and oil requirements
• Calculate the airplane weight and balance
• Review, amend and accept the Operational Flight Plan(Type B 705 operation)
• Complete an airplane pre-flight inspection before each departure
• Load, unload and secure cargo/freight as required
• Complete flight watch jointly with the flight dispatcher (Type B 705 operation)
• Complete all post flight duties, including notification/confirmation to the Company of the whereabouts of the airplane when away from base, recording flight times and any defects
• Continue to meet and exceed the Transport Canada Qualification standards for a Pilot
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
• Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations
• Category 1 Medical
• Current Group 1 Instrument Rating
• Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) with 500 hours on DHC-8 is preferred
• Previous airline experience is considered an asset
• Pilots must be fluent in English, and be able to demonstrate effective verbal and listening comprehension
• Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset

Working Conditions

• Physically able to perform all listed job duties
• Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role
• Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be able to travel for extended periods
