Within the GCAP Joint Venture, in the GCAP Technical Leadership UO, we are looking for a Digital Planning PM for GCAP HQ in Reading (UK).

Responsibilities

The Planning PM is responsible for developing, coordinating and maintaining project plans for IT projects within the broader digital portfolio. This role ensures that IT projects are planned, coordinated and continuously monitored to deliver on time and within scope, maintaining alignment with strategic objectives and portfolio priorities. The Planning PM acts as the key coordination between business stakeholders, technical teams and portfolio leadership, driving the planning lifecycle, managing interdependencies and critical paths to ensure the successful and timely delivery of IT projects.

Key Capability Accountabilities and Objectives
  • Integrated Planning and Delivery Enablement: Lead the development and maintenance of integrated project plans across the full delivery lifecycle, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, delivery milestones and resource availability. Proactively manage changes to scope, schedule, and dependencies to support successful and timely delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and portfolio leadership. Facilitate clear, transparent communication of planning status, risks, and interdependencies, enabling informed decision making and fostering alignment across all levels of the organization.
  • Risk, Issue, Dependency and Financial Management: Identify, assess, and manage planning‑related risks, issues and dependencies promptly. Collaborate with delivery leads and PMO to ensure mitigation strategies are in place and escalations handled promptly to protect delivery timelines and outcomes. Forecast project financials.
  • Resource and Capacity Planning: Work closely with IT Resource Managers and delivery teams to ensure accurate forecasting, allocation and utilisation of resources. Support scenario modelling and capacity planning to optimise delivery efficiency and responsiveness to change.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, Business Administration, Engineering or related field (Master's degree is often preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in planning or managing IT projects, preferably in complex, enterprise or technology‑driven environments.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem‑solving and decision‑making aptitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to influence without authority.
  • Ability to identify, prioritise and manage risk across the programmes of work within Digital Information.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master, or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience with project and portfolio management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Clarity).
