Job summary

Messer Canada Inc. in Aurora, Canada, is seeking a hands-on Cylinder Handler to manage compressed gas cylinders and prepare shipments in a safety‑driven facility. You will handle venting, labeling, sorting, loading, and safeguarding inventories while supporting production and shipping needs.

Responsibilities include maintaining Kanban flow, organizing the yard, and contributing ideas to improve processes. A strong emphasis on SHEQ compliance and teamwork is required.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Proven communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Cylinder venting, valving and devalving.
• Cylinder preparation as required by production orders and plant needs.
• Cylinder empty Kanban organization, and maintenance of minimum inventory levels.
• Cylinder label scraping, painting, labelling and shipping functions.
• Cylinder unloading and sorting into the empty Kanbans.
• Cylinder loading for shipping and yard storage.
• Yard organization and maintenance of cylinder inventories.
• Recommend new procedures and ideas to help improve our processes.
• Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to Company’s SHEQ program.
• Bring to management’s attention any safety issues and any issues that may potentially cause orders to go late.
• Support management on any projects or processes needing assistance or improvement.
• Work cooperatively with plant employees and with management to help meet the plant goals.

Purpose of the position

Reporting to the Plant supervisor, this position is responsible for handling compressed gas cylinders within the facility and/or preparing for shipment both high and low pressure, specialty gas cylinders and equipment.
