Maple Leaf Foods Inc. is seeking a Cyber Engineering and Technology Manager to lead day-to-day security operations across the enterprise from our Mississauga office in a flexible hybrid model.

You’ll shape target state security architecture, manage incidents, and coordinate with the VP of Information Security & CISO. You’ll bring strong leadership, deep security technology experience, and a collaborative mindset to drive policy, technology, and standards forward in a rapidly evolving

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of security experience across cyber security functions (infrastructure, vulnerability/patch, network, incident, cloud, data).
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT/Engineering/CS or equivalent preferred.
  • Certifications such as CISSP/GIAC preferred.

Job description

Cyber Engineering and Technology Manager

The Cyber Engineering and Technology Manager is responsible for the day-to-day support and operations of security infrastructure across the Maple Leaf Foods Enterprise. Building out the target state security architecture, in partnership with the Director of Security Strategy and Architecture, along with sustaining all security related technology, managing incidents, and device management are daily activities that are measurable and central to this role. A diligent mindset, with good management skills, is required with the capability to look forward and ensure we remain contemporary as we evolve policies, technology, and standards to ensure cyber security.


The Successful candidate will possess strong management skills with a passion and background in security technologies. They will bring strong communication and problem-solving skills, adaptable to changing technology, and willingness to collaborate.


This role manages a team of geographically dispersed technical analysts and reports to the VP of Information Security & CISO. It is a Flexible Hybrid working model working out of our Mississauga office.

Compensation:$122,000 - $172,000 CAD base pay annually plus annual short-term incentive


The above compensation reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting. The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job- related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in Maple Leaf’s annual short-term incentive plan.


Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:


  • Lead a team and oversee work and delivery of functions within Cyber Security Engineering (these include Vulnerability Platforms, Network Security, Incident Management, Cloud and Data Security, etc)

  • Lead the team to executive cybersecurity initiatives within the cyber security functions, aligned with our strategy, and in co-ordination with the Manager of Security Operations (Infrastructure, Vulnerability and Patch Management, Network Security, Incident Management, Cloud Security, Data Security)

  • Determine the objectives and priorities for the team to ensure successful execution of strategic and business plans and other Cyber Security initiatives

  • Manage the delivery of advanced Cyber Security capabilities within Cyber Security Engineering and Technology function

  • Support the implementation of Cyber Security best practices and controls within Cyber Security Operations function

  • Collaborate with internal IT Infrastructure teams and Enginering teams to ensure smooth operation and integration of security technology platforms to deliver business objectives

  • Manage the delivery of security and risk products and services including the design, analysis, development, testing and troubleshooting of security solutions

  • Ensure the timely reporting, manage tickets and escalation of any significant process failures, non-compliance, and deficiencies

  • Contribute towards development of Key Performance indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk indicators (KRIs) of different information security functions (Vulnerability and Patch Management, Incident Management, Network Security) and periodically report it to VP, Information Security (CISO)

  • Manage cross training of staff skill sets and upskilling as to provide primary and secondary coverage in all areas

  • Act as a liaison between the external vendors and management and ensure adherence of organization defined security requirements by external vendors

  • Prior experience in leading teams to executive cyber security initiatives

  • Prior experience in cyber security is a must

  • Prior experience in network engineering (Preferred)

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Quick learner, strategic thinker, and vision builder with strong team leadership and multitasking capabilities.

  • Superior project and priority management skills (financial/budget, programming, stakeholder, and resource management)


People:


  • Build an effective team, foster open dialogue, create strong morale and spirit among the project team members

  • Define project scope, goals, and measurable objectives, with collaborative input from functional teams, business teams and external suppliers (wherever appropriate)

  • Define project, tasks, assign responsibility and estimate resource skills and requirements in a detailed project plan

  • Define success parameters for the team as a whole and for each team member

  • Finalize scope, resourcing and timeline for project initiatives and perform quality assurance on deliverables

  • Participate in budget forecasting, budgeting, and tracking of initiatives

  • Monitor progress, summarize, and communicate status and vision to client management and stakeholders

  • Execute change management activities to understand change impacts, and appropriately plan and drive organizational change (go-live readiness and support training deliverables)

  • Work with IT Leads to secure and manage resources, and to identify and resolve resourcing priorities and conflicts where appropriate

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to junior staff members


Experience and Education:


  • A minimum of 7 years of security related experience within various cyber security functions (Infrastructure, Vulnerability and Patch Management, Network Security, Incident Management, Cloud Security, Data Security)

  • Knowledge over industry leading security platforms like Palo Alto, Microsoft security ecosystem, Cisco, and F5.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in leading and managing projects and teams

  • Prior experience in working in Consumer or Food & Beverage Industry (Preferred)

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering or Computer Science (Preferred)


Certifications:


  • Professional certifications like CISSP, GIAC or equivalent (Preferred)
